From Condo to Hostel in Greenpoint
Desperate times call for desperate (and, ahem, illegal) measures. Over in Greenpoint, reports New York Shitty, a 24-unit condo at 184 Eagle Street that was a little late to the real estate party is getting creative with its C of O by trying to rent out rooms on by the night on Craigslist. (We checked in with this particular development two years ago.) The price? $79 a night. Another building in the area has also tried to go this route. Similar things happening in other nabes? GMAP

29 bucks a night for a bunk bed. 870 bucks a month?
if it gets down to 600 bucks a month to rent a bunk I could see people just living there.

how do we 'know' that the condo is getting creative with the CofO.....and not an individual unit owner renting out rooms? I realize we're looking for signs of desperation for stories but hasn't this practice (renting like hotel rooms) been a bane for fellow condo/and rental dwellers in a number of buildings (upscale neighborhoods and bldgs) in the best of times?
