Atlantic Avenue Shell Station to Re-Open by May?

atlantic-gas-station-0209.jpgDespite the recent sale of the property, the Shell Station at Atlantic and Henry will continue to operate as a gas station, reports Cobble Hill Blog. One of the station's employees told a passerby that all the correct work permits have been obtained and that the pumps should be open again within the next two months. Good news for drivers in the area. GMAP

this place ran the shadiest, scammiest, repair garage EVER and lost their AAA accredidation because of the constant complaints.
there is plenty of negative feedback all over the web regarding their poor business practices; here is just the tip of the iceberg:

anyone who takes their car here when they re-open....beware!

i believe the garage has remained open through all of this, it was just the gas station that shut down.

while i had heard terrible things about the repair shop and never brought my car there (and your link above confirms that), this area is in desperate need for a working gas station. after the atlantic/smith ones were closed, and now this one, the nearest option was down on hamilton.

so from a gas station perspective, this is still good news.

We had the most awful experience at that repair atation when our car didn't start...
we refused their outlandish over-charged repair services and had our car towed by AAA out of there... turned out to be a minor problem that cost next to nothing, and that repair station gave an estimate for the work at close to $1,000... we filed a complaint with AAA.

BEWARE!

not sure how the repair shop could remain open since the whole thing is behind a plywood fence, but whatev's. BEWARE BEWARE.

And danny, yes, i do agree that the nabe needs a gas station. FYI, the mobil at the bottom of smith has the cheapest name brand gas around.

These guys are notorious. I've heard nothing but bad news about this station for years. Unfortunately, they've got a few tow-trucks, and they're the closest garage for many people. The Gulf station at Hicks and Rapeleye, or Fulton Repair near Furman are much more honest for basic repairs.

Gas Stations suck.
terrible neighbors
especially if you don't have a car.

I believe the gas station and the garage were run, and possibly owned, by different people.

hey b.o.d

it definitely remained open in the beginning when they first started digging it up - had a big sign saying "repair shop still open" etc.. i walk by there every day but don't pay much attention. will look again today. if you're judging by the picture, there used to be access to the garage way on the left. maybe it's fully closed now.

and yes.. i go to the smith/hamilton gas station now. but i'll pay a little extra to fill up here. i'm lazy.

danny you are right, the shop is still open. a friend just got his car fixed (hopefully) there the other day............

the guys who run this ship are grade a scumbag. their prices are always 30-40 cents higher than hamilton ave, and the last time i brought my car in for inspection, the guy told me i needed $800 of repairs to make my car "passable". i immediately took it to some dude on 4th ave and he passed it without question.

Thank god the pumps will be open again. It's the last operating gas station in the neighborhood. The disappearance of the Mobil on the corner of Atlantic and Boerum Place was a big loss to us car owners. The bigger loss was the Mobil on Flatbush that is in the footprint of the Atlantic Yards project. That was the only honest mechanic left in the area. And that Mobil supported 5 Korean families. I wonder where they are working now.

I guess gas is better than no gas here, but I must admit I was glad when I saw this place close down,..sorry to hear the repair shop has remained open.

I took my car there for inspection once a few years back,..turns out i "needed" new brakes,..then when I picked up my car I neglected to check all 4 tires,..the one I didnt check came off right on the road while I was driving! They didnt put back the lug nuts! None of em! My fault for not checking each tire but goodness you'd assume they would put the lug nuts back on. They suck. Never again.
