got it but in their infinite wisdom the jackasses at nyc finance so mangled the spelling of my last name that there will most certainly be a problem cashing it.

I got my rebate along with a $650.00 tax increase.

No. I went to check my status and apparently my neighbor owns my house. Maybe she got my check.

I got no rebate even though my condo is Tax Abated, I still paid a few hundred dollars in RE Taxes. Anyone know how it works if you get a tax abatement with the rebate?

On 12/20 or 12/30. Last gasp of the good times.

Nope and a year and a half later the previous owner stills owns my house. Maybe they got it!!!

Of course I'm glad I got my rebate. I never factor it in when I plan my budget, so it's always a nice surprise. But really, people - in times like these, with essential city services being cut, the rebate is an absurd idea. I'm a teacher and have bought about $150 more of my own supplies this year than I usually do because of budget cuts in my school. I'm glad the rebate is there to help me cover those costs and then some, but the whole idea seems bass ackwards to me.

A Tax rebate is the ultimate in in the tax shell game government plays with your money. It is easier to give a rebate than cut your taxes because it provides political cover for tax increases. Rather than say "We are raising your taxes" they simply forgo the rebate. In our case they are both forgoing the rebate and raising taxes next year, so it is like getting hit twice.

I received mine in park slope, but cannot understand the logic behind it. They're increasing taxes, yet we continue to get these checks that area mostly for the wealthy (the poor don't own real estate in new york). as much as i love getting my $400, it's ridiculous that we still get it. kudos to bloomberg for at least trying to get rid of it (but less so for not putting up much of a fight).

Bought a house in Boerum Hill in July. Moving in shortly after a major refit.
At the risk of sounding like a doofus, what do i do to get one or even qualify for one?
Could do with it frankly.
All we got so far was a bigger than expected property tax bill.
Serious advice appreciated.

Recieving rebate checks, does that include coop owners as well?
