What's the average time between contract and close on a brownstone? Three months?

So, whose identity are we uncovering today? Are we guessing the "What"s real first name? Perry? Umberto? Archibald?

Whats the deal with all the outside ATMs on Smith street? There was a third one just installed on the block I work within 3 consecutive storefronts. And the ones that are built into the facades of the buildings where they bust the brick to install them?.. do landlords have to be consulted about that? There should be a law how many per block, they are an eyesore, a garbage collector, and the fees in general are ridiculous. Does anyone know the percentage the store owner gets by having one of these in front of their shop? Are there other streets in Brooklyn that have way too may of these?..

Posted by: lifer at January 12, 2009 10:40 AM

Fair weather fan, bowl??? At least you're a good sport.

I had posted a pic of McNabb on the telephone earlier in the Forum but Mr B (who is NOT a good sport) took it down.

Caption: " Hello??? Yes, we are looking for a new quarterback, funny you should ask."

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at January 12, 2009 10:40 AM

Damn you Eagles! I have been foiled.

I guess it is now great loss for us, since DIBS can still wear a pair of blue panties.

(and St John's lost too. A horrible weekend.)

Posted by: Miss Chiff at January 12, 2009 10:41 AM

Damn you Miss Chiff! They have been foiled.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at January 12, 2009 10:50 AM

DIBS > I was at Syracuse during the mid 1990's, so that makes me a big McNabb fan and follower.

Posted by: bowl of dicks at January 12, 2009 10:52 AM

Please don't be angry with me, Mistress BRG. I was only trying to make others happy.

Posted by: Miss Chiff at January 12, 2009 10:54 AM

BHO,

Are you saying that, if the gun was carried legally, it wouldn't have gone off?

Posted by: slopefarm at January 12, 2009 10:57 AM

Folks;

In case you didn't see it, the identity of "Miss Chiff" has been revealed (thanks Cobblehiller). She is 11233. Frankly, I thought 11233 was still posting under that handle.

Posted by: benson at January 12, 2009 11:00 AM

Do you want to break the news to Benson, DIBS, or shall I?

Posted by: Miss Chiff at January 12, 2009 11:03 AM

Adding a dash of dominatrix to Miss Chiff? I am now fervently hopeful that this is Mrs. Limestone coming forth in new and even more fabulous form!

Posted by: Nokilissa at January 12, 2009 11:04 AM

ohhhhhh. Disregard my previous comment.

Benson, will you now reveal who you believed Ms. Chiff to be a few days back?

Posted by: Nokilissa at January 12, 2009 11:07 AM

Be careful, Nokilissa, we don't want to make Biff too happy. HE has work to do. Get out of the bathroom, Biff.

Posted by: Miss Chiff at January 12, 2009 11:07 AM

Speaking of...has anyone checked out her blog? It's really killer.

Posted by: TownhouseLady at January 12, 2009 11:08 AM

So you are 11233??

Bowl....I went to Siena so there's an additional rivalry between us!!!! LOL

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at January 12, 2009 11:08 AM

I think he thought I was lisa.

Posted by: Miss Chiff at January 12, 2009 11:08 AM

"I guess it is now great loss for us, since DIBS can still wear a pair of blue panties."

I really wanted to foist the panties onto Dave, but Big Blue sputtered yesteday. The Eagles were the better team and deservedly won the game. Congratulations, Dave.

Posted by: East New York at January 12, 2009 11:10 AM

"Be careful, Nokilissa, we don't want to make Biff too happy. HE has work to do. Get out of the bathroom, Biff."
Constant obsession with Biff's bathroom habits and grammar = BRG.

Posted by: Biff Champion at January 12, 2009 11:11 AM

Biff, if that is what you want to think, so be it. If you are having naughty thoughts about me, DIBS may want to know.

Posted by: Miss Chiff at January 12, 2009 11:13 AM

DIBS are you talking BBall now? :-)

Posted by: bowl of dicks at January 12, 2009 11:14 AM

For the record:

I thought Miss Chiff was Lisa. Seemed too conincidental: Lisa is nowhere to be seen, and along comes Miss Chiff.

Posted by: benson at January 12, 2009 11:19 AM

Yes bowl...but I haven't really followed Siena for many, many years.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at January 12, 2009 11:19 AM

"Constant obsession with Biff's bathroom habits and grammar = BRG"
I'll admit, I like sending you to the bathroom!!!

Posted by: bayridgegirl at January 12, 2009 11:21 AM

Finally made it inside the Brooklyn Flea Saturday, as opposed to just walking by as I've done on three occasions. Better than average flea market, with good prices. I was disappointed not to see anything from Olde Good Things, was looking forward to eyeing doorknobs.

Posted by: mopar at January 12, 2009 11:22 AM

Thanks Benson. It feels as though we should all have a virtual post coital cigarette now.

Posted by: Nokilissa at January 12, 2009 11:31 AM

But, has Miss Chiff admitted anything???

Posted by: bayridgegirl at January 12, 2009 11:38 AM

"Do you want to break the news to Benson, DIBS, or shall I?

Posted by: Miss Chiff at January 12, 2009 11:03 AM"

DIBS;

Was 11233 (now known as Miss Chiff) also your handle? What did Miss Chiff mean in the above statement? Hmmmm???

Nokilissa;

Got a light?

Posted by: benson at January 12, 2009 11:42 AM

I have only logged in as DIBS, Bold Type Guest and Brooke Lynne.

11233 lives near me and was at the party.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at January 12, 2009 11:47 AM

"Was 11233 (now known as Miss Chiff) also your handle?"
No, 11233 was at the last drinkup and he is not DIBS or BRG.

Posted by: Biff Champion at January 12, 2009 11:48 AM

I think the next drink up should be in Park Slope and you all should binge drink and then go stroller tipping.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at January 12, 2009 11:56 AM

I don't recall meeting 11233...
If that's the case, I was flirting with Miss Chiff as if she was someone else....an exotic brunette, oh, well!!!

Posted by: bayridgegirl at January 12, 2009 12:03 PM

He's not interested in girls, BRG; especially girls from Bay Ridge.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at January 12, 2009 12:05 PM

ENY: Can you foist panties on someone who doesn't fight you about it? Reminds me of dressing the goat at a rodeo.

Perhaps the next meet up can have "activities"

Potato sack races (That's potatoe for Benson)
Dressing the DIBS.
Stoller tipping
Dancing in hooker heals on the bar. (BRG can be the judge.)

Any other ideas?

Posted by: Miss Chiff at January 12, 2009 12:07 PM

Is anybody interested in girls from Bay Ridge???

Posted by: bayridgegirl at January 12, 2009 12:08 PM

And I am interested in BRG! Who else understands my love of the Bridgeview Diner?!

Posted by: Miss Chiff at January 12, 2009 12:10 PM

"ENY: Can you foist panties on someone who doesn't fight you about it?"

I guess not.

Posted by: East New York at January 12, 2009 12:10 PM

For the record I've never worn panties, nor will I unless the right guy comes along. I do wear underwear.

Semper ubi sub ubi!!!

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at January 12, 2009 12:14 PM

"Semper ubi sub ubi!!!"

HA...that was the only phrase I managed to learn in that God-awful high-school Latin class!

Posted by: East New York at January 12, 2009 12:16 PM

Did you go to Dyker Heights this year, Miss Chiff?
Did you go to the house I told you to on Colional?

Posted by: bayridgegirl at January 12, 2009 12:20 PM

Oh, Dave, let us rib you. Trust me, I will defend you against the loons.

Oh no, not Latin. I finished with that the 3rd trimester of junior year. Don't make me suffer again.

Posted by: Miss Chiff at January 12, 2009 12:21 PM

Mistress BMG, of course I did as you told me. I remember the Colonial Road and 71st house from prior years. Lovely! DH was a blast as well, though the mascots they had on 84th (?) street needed a good dry cleaning! For whom do they collect that money, do you know?

Posted by: Miss Chiff at January 12, 2009 12:24 PM

"BHO,

Are you saying that, if the gun was carried legally, it wouldn't have gone off?"

Precisely.

***Bid half off peak comps***

Posted by: Brownstones Half Off at January 12, 2009 12:32 PM

BHO...are we talking about the Giants again????

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at January 12, 2009 12:33 PM

DIBS,

Yes, this is a Giants discussion. BHO thinks that if we had lax gun laws in NYC, Plaxico wouldn't have shot himself. Perhaps yesterday's game would have turned out differently, perhaps not. Reasonable minds can differ. My query to BHO is simply that I find it hard to believe that NY's gun laws pulled the trigger.

Posted by: slopefarm at January 12, 2009 12:53 PM

The NRA plays football?

Posted by: bayridgegirl at January 12, 2009 12:56 PM

Who cares how Plaxico shot himself. It's clear that he's an imbecile. Wherever there are still people running around in an urban environment with handguns shooting anyone at anytime, the gun laws are too lax. Plaxico ruined a career by being just plain stupid.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at January 12, 2009 12:57 PM

DIBS, I agree. BHO seems to think that Plaxico wouldn't have shot himself if the gun laws were more lax. I am curious to hear the reasoning on this one. It's more of an argument about gun laws than Plax. There is apparently no law against stupidity.

Posted by: slopefarm at January 12, 2009 1:10 PM

The problem is gun laws don't work for people who think that they are above the law.

Doesn't matter how strict you make the laws the criminals and idiots will still do whatever they want. Those of us who abide by the law have never been the problem.

Posted by: TownhouseLady at January 12, 2009 1:19 PM

So true THL...which means the penalties have to be increased. I think a quick game of Russian Roulette for one would be an adequate deterrent.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at January 12, 2009 1:30 PM

Read BHO again. HE is not saying stricter gun laws would have protected Plax from his stupidity. He is saying looser gun laws would have.

Posted by: slopefarm at January 12, 2009 1:30 PM

Well then he should go clubbing with Plaxico.

Laws or not, anyone who's had any kind of firearms training (or anyone with half a brain) knows that you don't carry a loaded weapon in the waistband of sweatpants. Laws or lack thereof can't protect imbeciles.

I hope it hurt like hell.

Posted by: TownhouseLady at January 12, 2009 1:38 PM

I think THL was commenting on my comment. Yes, BHO's (still unexplained) logic is very bizarre. Maybe tighter pants would have kept Plaxico from shooting himself!!!

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at January 12, 2009 1:39 PM

The bigger question is...

Who goes clubbing in sweatpants?

People, a little effort, please.

Posted by: TownhouseLady at January 12, 2009 1:46 PM

Did anyone go to any of the open houses this weekend and see that PH apartment @ 250 Park Place? Very nice and FSBO. Wondering why they are selling.

Posted by: JENNYFROMTHEBLOCK at January 12, 2009 1:53 PM

I only go clubbing in a black rubber band sized mini skirt, fuschia sequinced tube top, f*ck me pumps, my hair teased at least 4" above my head with blue eye shadow.

And I only dance with guys that are wearing tight hip hugging polyester cobalt blue pants, with a beige button down shirt (of course polyester), top 3 buttons undone, 3 layered gold chains and python skin pointy shoes and that have more hairspray in their hair than I do.

Let's bogey!!

Posted by: bayridgegirl at January 12, 2009 1:54 PM

"The bigger question is...

Who goes clubbing in sweatpants?"

THL, I thought they were at a strip joint, which would explain the attire.

Biff, why is that strip club attire? When I go to a strip club (yes, I do go, with straight friends) I'm usually in my business attire. I think people that go to strip clubs and don't go in proper attire are inconsiderate. That's someone's daughter up there!!!

Besides, hetero strip clubs are the biggest joke and biggest waste of money. Am what's with this no touching at the hetero strip clubs!!!??? ROTFLMMAO

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at January 12, 2009 2:01 PM

What in the name of all that is holy are we going on about? Who shot who? Or rather, what?

I have this oddly disconcerting image of an old gym coach who never wore underwear under his sweatpants... This is making me think of blue underpants on Dave's head and some currently unknown-by-me basketball player in loose heather grey sweatpants, at a club, with a gun entirely too close to his male version of the hoo-hoo...

Enlighten me?

Posted by: Nokilissa at January 12, 2009 2:02 PM

Agree and agree Dave. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Giants receiver Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in the right thigh while at a Manhattan nightclub.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/30/sports/football/30burress.html?ref=sports

Posted by: TownhouseLady at January 12, 2009 2:05 PM

I agree with townhouselady.

Any jerk who goes to Manhattan nightclubs in sweatpants deserves to shoot himself in the hoo-hoo.

Posted by: sam at January 12, 2009 2:10 PM

I almost had the opportunity to design the VIP Lounge of a very prominent strip club in NYC. I met with the owners, looked at the space ---with the lights on, not a pretty sight!!! When I went to measure the space, I was scared to touch anything, fearing I might get pregnant. I designed it, very high end, I spent alot of time picking out a damn chair. The chair needed to have arm rests, but yet needed to allow the patron to spread their legs wide...It was so hard finding a chair. And then they pulled the plug on the project, so to speak. They didn't want to spend the money after all. Hey, when it's dark, you can't tell that's crushed red velvet on the walls!!

DIBS, Who says you can't touch at strip clubs...check in the back rooms!

Posted by: bayridgegirl at January 12, 2009 2:11 PM

That project would have given you a life time of bragging rights BRG. I'm serious. You would have had unquantifiable sex appeal. Would have far exceeded Ms. Chiff calling you Mistress/Dom BRG too.

Posted by: Nokilissa at January 12, 2009 2:16 PM

BRG, as Chris Rock will be quick to tell you there is NO Sex In the Champagne Room.

Posted by: TownhouseLady at January 12, 2009 2:17 PM

My straight friends are too cheap for the back rooms. We just go to Ricky's now.

When the gay ones used to be here the back rooms were for whatever you wanted to do in them!!! Or so I'm told.

"You would have had unquantifiable sex appeal"
Noki...you slapping me on this one??

THL...you sure know alot of Chris Rock's material....what gives??
I think he's the funniest working comic. Him and Chappelle are the top two for me.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at January 12, 2009 3:13 PM

One of My All time favorite Chris Rock clips is his "educational video" How Not To Get Your Ass Kicked By The Police! Particularly the "mad woman".

Warning there is profanity!

Chris Rock....funny as hell!
I saw Chris Rock on numerous occassions in NYC at comedy clubs, working out new material..it was a thrill. He is a comedy genius.
You should look up some of his earlier stand up clips.

Chappelle also. I loved the Chappelle show on Comedy Central. It shouldn't have ended :-(

DAVE i am right here, and I told you it was a short term trade. And I was right. I got out of gold last wednesday that way I didn't have to pay for the gains until next year. Long term I think Gold has a way to run but it may test the 700 mark and fall thru it. But short term I was right. BTW do you know anywhere I can get the credit default swap info on banks... You have to admit my 2008 calls were all on the money dude.
