Brooklyn Bridge Park's Stairway to Heaven The Heights

brooklyn-bridge-park-0109.jpgAfter it finishes hauling in 60,000 cubic yards of fill this winter and laying the groundwork for utilities, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corp. will begin building a 25-foot-tall staircase (and "super bleachers") out of granite blocks salvaged from the old Roosevelt Island Bridge and building the gatehouse for Pier 1. According to the Pier 1 plan, the pier could open by the end of the year, reports the Brooklyn Eagle.
