402 Washington Avenue Getting an Upgrade

402-Washington-Avenue-1208.jpg
The five-story building at 402 Washington Avenue is about to move to the head of the class. After many years as a Class B Multiple Dwelling (which includes several kinds of "transient" housing), the beautiful brick structure is betting converted into five Class A, or permanent, apartments. (For more details on the difference between Class A and Class B, click here.) No word on whether it'll be condos or rentals, but we'd bet the latter. GMAP P*Shark DOB

I love that grouping of houses. They deserve some TLC -- the facades are really special.

"we'd bet the latter"

Why? Isn't ownership good for the hood?

Sure, we just doubt that it'll be a great market to sell condos in so they'll probably opt to rent them.

I guess even the whore houses go out of business in these tough economic times. I live on the block and have not seen much 'business' there recently. I recommend a good sage burning once all is said and done. These are great buildings and it will be nice to see them get a little TLC.
