185 Ocean Avenue Still Sucking Wind

The ~~developer~~ destroyer of 185 Ocean Avenue is growing more desperate, it seems. After paying top dollar for the unattached brick home in early 2007 and proceeding to tear it down and dig a big hole in the ground, he put the frozen project back on the market last November for $2,500,000. This week he cut the asking price to $2,300,000. Poor neighbors.

I have not heard the expression "sucking wind" in years, though I have to say, in the case of this developer/destroyer it's perfect.

Poor neighbors indeed! Last Summer LPC representatives said they'd take another look at possibly designating the remaining 12 houses in this row--no word yet, although I remain cautiously hopeful .

Everytime Brownstoner blogs about this parcel I have to chime in.......

I was supposed to buy the house!! I signed the contract after I won the supposed "Best and Final Offer".

Next thing I know this idiot developer offers $200,000 more than what I signed contract for....they had not yet signed the contract and I was out $500 in lawyers fees.

This house was so CUTE! Right across from the park, I loved it!

Anyways....Carroll Gardens is a dream location compared to Ocean Ave....but this detached house on the park was SWEET!

And Areakids, every time you write about how you so narrowly missed out on getting that house, I get upset all over again myself! I'm sure all of us here -- homeowners and nearby apartment dwellers alike-- would be a whole lot happier today if we had you as our neighbor instead of that idiot developer (as you have so aptly named him) who destroyed 185 and left that gaping hole in the ground!
