Red Hook Doesn't Hook Real World Cast

real-world-house-red-hook-1208.jpg
Big, big news folks: not all of the cast of MTV's Real World Red Hook took a liking to the neighborhood. While some of them were charmed by its post-industrial (well, and there's plenty of industry still cranking away there) feel, others "didn't seem to really soak up the local atmosphere during filming for the series, which debuts next month," writes the NY Daily News. Their complaints: too far away for those who work in Manhattan (one cast member feared taking the subway after 8PM); not safe enough; and the bars are too small to accommodate the cast's large entourage. What did they like about it? IKEA. Even a cast member who didn't appreciate living in the borough clearly realized its caché; she named her dog Brooklyn. Meanwhile, if you'd like to get an up-close-and-personal look at the cast members and their Red Hook digs, Gothamist got an exclusive visit and posted a big slide show yesterday to prove it.

honestly? if i applied to the real world and was not from ny and they stuck me in red hook saying it was brooklyn i'd be mad pizzed too. they should have just stuck them in bushwick or williamsburg. seriously. what would have been the big difference? red hook was a lame choice and those kiddults probably got a bad taste of brooklyn. which i guess might be a good thing. tho some are moving into stuy-town in manhattan or have already moved. lol. that's even funnier.

OMG y'alls! i so got douche-chills just seeing the decor, those people, and their names (chet, baya, katlynn?)

katlynn's a post-op transsexual! i may have to tune in. sorry but i doubt she will ever be the fierceness that is Isis (the pre-op, tho tyra gave her money for the surgery soon) from the last cycle of Top Model!. plus Isis is a real new york! woo woo

Just fyi: The word is spelled "cachet." "Caché" is the past participle of the verb "cacher," meaning "to hide." Not the same thing.

Umm, i think they were right on the money.
I'm born and raised in Brooklyn and I wouldnt want to get off the train there at night if I could avoid it!
Sure it's an interesting up and coming area, but safe at night?
Far from it.
Especially for some kids from other states plopped down in the middle of one of the toughest neighborhood's in the toughfest city in the country.

Devyn from Kansas has gotta be the hottest babe in Red Hook.

It's not surprising she won't take the subway after 8:00 pm.

She must get hit on every time she whips out her metrocard.
