Fatal Garbage Truck Accident on Lexington
A couple of readers in the past few minutes have tipped us off to a terrible accident that happened about an hour ago on Lexington Avenue between Classon and Franklin in Bed Stuy. According to one version, the driver of a garbage truck forgot to take the truck out of gear and got out to pick up some trash. The truck rolled forward crushing the driver to death and hitting parked cars and causing the pile-up shown in the first photo. This occurred about 45 minnutes ago. Anyone else see it? More details?

So was it the little blue car with the red van on top of it, where the driver was killed?

Same thing happened to a valet parker in Brooklyn a few weeks ago. It's better to just take the key out of the ignition. Laziness is a killer.

Am I interpreting the pictures correctly? The garbage truck pushed all of those cars 20 feet down the street until the blue sports car slid under the red SUV?

Jesus Brownstones Half Off, an incredibly crass and flippant remark given that this guy who hauled garbage for a living was killed doing it. Lazy? You try it for even a single freakin' day. That really pissed me off.

I'm with you, Nokillisa. My deepest condolences for the family. All it takes is a second for something to go wrong, and it is sad events like these that remind me of that.
