Coggan + Crawford on 21st

There's a bit of a building boom on 21st Street, with a mixed bag of new construction. On the brighter side, the once Brooklyn-based firm Coggan + Crawford (they've since moved to Starkville, Mississippi) is already responsible for a green condo building next door, at 270 21st Street, which won an award from the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce last year, and now they're making progress on 272, a four-story, four-unit condo in the making. Front and back renderings to the right. The developers are Chris Giancola and Lawrence Vento, also responsible for 270. Nice that they're trying a very different look. GMAP

The C+C website still says they are based in Brooklyn. What is your source of information about Starkville? Both of the named principals teach (taught?) at Pratt, so this would be a major change.

This block is better for their two buildings. There are a bunch of other interesting or good buildings on this block- the old catholic school/condo, a private house that has a very modern facade, and some standout greenwood eclectic frames with mixed media siding...

Giancola is a know entity in the neighborhood with a good track record, both as a developer and building green. Rumor has it he has another building on the block, slated to be vacated, demo'd and developed. Whole lot for one small block...it'll be 6 new buildings in 3 years.

They moved to Mississippi to take academic positions there, while maintaining their architectural work here. They have not updated their site to reflect their change of location.

Speaking with an agent recently I was told that two more buildings on the North side of this block were being bought by a developer. One of the buildings is already boarded up, which is a good thing because the building was not in healthy condition.

this building looks nice. Glad he didn't go the modern looking florida stucco on this one. I really like the building next door 274 21st. its a cute townhouse that looks like it belongs in brooklyn. This is going to be one of the best blocks in the area (if it's not already THE best) wish i lived on this block!!
