Atlantic Yards Celebrates A Big Birthday
Yep, it's five years old today, and DDDB has posted this photo of the big cheeses celebrating the announcement in more hopeful times. "NoLandGrab is wishing the billionaire's boondoggle a Happy Birthday Atlantic Yards, unfavorably comparing the progress of the project to that of a five-year old child who would be toilet-trained and in pre-school by now."

What's truly amazing is that Lisa put this up an hour ago and not one peep from anyone. For that matter, it's been a while since anyone has posted "three words: Atlantic Yards Effect" or its little cousin "A Y E" in response to a P Heights or FG HOTD. It's been years since a forum poster has asked how AY will affect a property they were thinking of purchasing, or that a rip-roaring fight would break out in response. Have the boosters and the haters all left the site or is there truly nothing to talk about? If a development project in Brooklyn falls and no one on Brownstoner comments, does it make a sound?

75 minutes later, the answer to my last qquestion is: Apparently not.

Maybe no one can muster much spit to comment on the latest agit-prop from DDDB. I know we live in post-modern times, but a blog-thread about a low-voltage media event ... yawn.

slopefarm--I am with you. Its pretty amazing what a non-story Atlantic Yards has become.

What is to be said about Atlantic Yards that hasn't already been said? And how can you talk about an effect if there's no development timeline?

totally amazing what a non-story AY has become? what, this week and last there are tons of stories, trying using yer google news and blog search.
perhaps there is not much commentary here because the post is a nothing post, as opposed to this one which has news in it and following by lots of comments.
