Streetlevel: Japanese Restaurant for Smith Street

Earlier this year, 170 Smith Street was falling down, literally. The building's facade was crumbling to the sidewalk below. Well, there's still plywood covering the building, but behind it, a new outpost of Kiku will open, a relative, we think, of those on 7th and 5th Avenues in the Slope. GMAP

Isn't there something just like this on Smith, just below Pacific? Some sort of Japanese fusion, I thought. There's too many of these types of places around Smith (esp since I don't like that sorta food).

AWESOME!!(sarcasm) Another Asian influenced restaurant for Smith Street. I like to see the store fronts fill up, but can't see all this Asian spots on one block making it through this economy...

If this actually was a Japanese restaurant, it WOULD be a great addition to the nabe--unfortunately it's another one of those Chinese places that put "Japanese" on the sign and roll up some bad sushi to rope in the unsuspecting Guailos.
