Quote of the Day

quotation-icon.jpgI remember walking from Park Slope to Pratt once, about 10 years ago. It was desolate and empty. I remember passing a huge empty red brick building on the corner of Gates and I forget what, thinking, this is a beauty, but who's gonna want to live here. Look at the neighborhood now...it's come a long way.

Lisa, are you sure THIS should be QOTD...but, OK.

For all the nonsense, and bull and funny (I think) comments, I've posted on here. And all the naysayers who think I have nothing to contribute but rubbish.

Quote of the Day is mine, Biatches!!!

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 6, 2008 4:11 PM

those are four-o-clocks. just fyi.

Posted by: sam at November 6, 2008 4:19 PM

Lisa, you should have picked another quote.

It's either no love for Clinton Hill or moi, I'll take the blame.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 6, 2008 4:56 PM

BRG, you did get one person (other than yourself) posting here. Although does it count, since it seems sam actually meant to post his comment in the "Closing Bell: Late Bloomers" thread?

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 6, 2008 5:01 PM

And they're not four-o-clocks anyway.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 6, 2008 5:06 PM

Thanks guys...now where's Cobble and Snark, then my fame for the day will be complete.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 6, 2008 5:09 PM

BRG, chin up. Up least TownhouseLady isn't here to post a much more provocative quote from someone in Mill Basin / Dyker Heights.

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 6, 2008 5:18 PM

Make that "At least" not "Up least". Hey, my typo just got you another post under your QOTD thread so something good came of it. Ok, ok, we're just a bunch of bitter haters. But I would hate to lose my record as the poster with the most amount of comments without ever achieving the QOTD!

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 6, 2008 5:19 PM

Biff, maybe if you had something insightful to say.

Would you like me to write something on your behalf as I think you would write it?

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 6, 2008 5:23 PM

Test

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 6, 2008 5:23 PM

DIBS...why, you!!

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 6, 2008 5:25 PM

5:23....MEEEEOOOOWWWW...And you were calling us "Biatches" BRG?????

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 6, 2008 5:26 PM

Where's the faded type spammer when you need him?

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 6, 2008 5:29 PM

I just took a picture of what this thread reminds me of:

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 6, 2008 5:30 PM

I never watch Extra but they're dishing some more dirt on Palin right now.....

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 6, 2008 5:31 PM

DIBS, do you like chocolate?

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 6, 2008 5:31 PM

Anything dark BRG!

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 6, 2008 5:33 PM

I'm going to stay up late tonight and keep posting here, so it'll reach over 100 posts.

This is my day people, let me live the dream!

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 6, 2008 5:41 PM

I'm not sure if there are computers on the Promenade or at the Chocolate Room in Cobble Hill with Internet access, BRG. It could be a very late night for you indeed.

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 6, 2008 5:58 PM

Biff, it'll be all worth it. I'll look for the trench coat and hairy legs.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 6, 2008 6:09 PM

BRG - Did you light the Snark Signal?

Hey DIBS, speaking of Palin dirt, get this one from the financial times:

"Sarah Palin arrived home in Alaska on Thursday as infighting intensified between Republicans who view her as the future of the party and others who blame her for John McCain’s defeat...

But even as the Alaska governor tried to keep her options open, some allies of Mr McCain were busy trying to trash her reputation with a series of allegations about her conduct during the campaign...

Perhaps the most startling involved fresh claims about Ms Palin’s shaky grasp of geography, with unnamed McCain aides telling Fox News that during preparations for the vice-presidential debate, it emerged that she did not know Africa was a continent rather than a country..."

Posted by: SnarkSlope at November 6, 2008 6:10 PM

Snark - I'm quote of the day and you come in here with your Sarah Palin crap trying to hijack it???

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 6, 2008 6:13 PM

QOTD Hypersensitivity Syndrome

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 6, 2008 6:15 PM

I think Jack just walked into the room. Everybody say, "Hi Jack!"

SnarkSlope, I'm just loving listening to all this stuff. What are we going to do for fun when both she and W are no longer in the news? Can we petition for them to do a radio call-in show perhaps?

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 6, 2008 6:20 PM

Speaking of Palin, can I get the QOTD if I can prove I can see it while I'm posting in other threads?

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 6, 2008 6:22 PM

That's right BRG, and I'm gonna do it again:

"One unnamed McCain aide reportedly described Ms Palin and her husband, Todd, as 'Wasilla hillbillies'... who had travelled the country 'looting' luxury fashion stores at the Republican party’s expense."

Posted by: SnarkSlope at November 6, 2008 6:23 PM

Throw aways - Nobody wants them, you guys can have them and I'm sure nobody here will read them.

Nov. 5th, 2008 - Sarah Palin submitted her resume for the lead in the upcoming movie; Tina Fey: An extraordinary Life.

or

Nov. 5th, 2008 - Sarah Palin submitted her resume to NBC to be Tina Fey’s understudy.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 6, 2008 6:23 PM

BRG, we all might as well exchange phone numbers, social security numbers, addresses, favorite ice cream flavors etc. here. It's not like anyone will notice.

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 6, 2008 6:26 PM

I'd pay to hear her speak. As long as there was a Q&A session.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 6, 2008 6:28 PM

Why don't we make this all of our meeting place tomorrow and drive it up to 175 posts instead of continually doing it in The What's Forum threads?

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 6, 2008 6:28 PM

That would be Sarah Palin, not you BRG. LOL

Snark, I'm dialing right now....you got my curiosity.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 6, 2008 6:30 PM

That was funny SnarkSlope. Need I ask who gave it to you and in which bar???

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 6, 2008 6:31 PM

Snark, that hurt!!

IT'S MY QUOTE OF THE DAY, PEOPLE!!

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 6, 2008 6:31 PM

It was a slow day BRG!!!!!!

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 6, 2008 6:33 PM

I'm outta here kiddies.
Biff, I'll see you later. Leave the trench slightly open, sweet pea!!

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 6, 2008 6:35 PM

Yep, I'm pretty sure those are four-o-clocks. Oops, sorry, wrong thread...

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 10:56 AM

Biff, You can single handled drive this post up!

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 12:37 PM

"single handled"? I prefer double handling.

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 12:58 PM

I'm wired up now. I got caught up dishing it to fsrq about architecture and lost focus of important issues here.

Quote of the day!
I need to recompose myself...I got a little tossled back there.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 1:08 PM

Should we quickly start a petition to prevent Mr.B from ever posting another story just so we can ensure your QOTD remains on the front page of this blog in perpetuity.

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 1:16 PM

Would you petition on my behalf.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 1:28 PM

Sure, I do whatever you like on your behalf. But which half?

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 1:31 PM

watch it....this is the front page.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 1:34 PM

What did I say wrong?

The Chocolate Room sounds like a winner. I'm so there. Can't wait to try the cupcakes. I'm trusting hubby was appropriately clothed under the coat?

Not sure if Biff could be an adjective - an agitator maybe, but not an adjective.

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 1:41 PM

Would I like the Chocolate Room BRG???

There's the Brown Sugar Inn over on Marcus garvey.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 1:47 PM

Buff would be an adjective. Buffy is just plain assinine.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 1:53 PM

Sorry, Biff, I'm still caught up in that horror show thread. It's really gotten me razzled.

It was a winner. You should def try it. Take your honey and walk over.

I have to think of creative definations for Biff, Biffing, Biffed, Biffeled.

Stop Biffing me. I am so Biffed right now.
Not sounding right.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 1:53 PM

Buff ia actually a verb too.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 1:53 PM

Maybe they'll dedicate a dessert after me at The Chocolate Room. Biff Cake?

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 1:56 PM

Damn, Biff, we're not alone.
Where's Snark to put a shine on all this.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 2:03 PM

BRG, I'm afraid after "Closing Bell" and "Friday Blogwrap" your QOTD will disappear to the back pages. Trying to hold on....

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 2:25 PM

I always hang on till the every end.

My fame is fading. It's okay, I don't need to be on top to think I'm ahead.
I had my shot. It was fun while it lasted.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 2:34 PM

At least you've had your say going out BRG; unlike poor Sarah Palin.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 2:38 PM

Should I put up some more Throw aways??

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 2:44 PM

No, we want to remember you as a class act.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 2:46 PM

'remember you as a class act.'

I didn't realize I ever was thought to be a class act.

I think I'll take your post as a compliment.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 2:56 PM

You know what...I'll take your post as an insult, that my throw aways are that bad :(

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 2:57 PM

Schizophrenia is often a disease of the most gifted minds.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 3:00 PM

"I always hang on till the every end."

You have to hang on to every end? You never hung on to mine :-(

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 3:17 PM

DAMN, the spelling.

As soon as I come off the front [page], you have to start.
Biff, Don't get hung up on my every word. It'll get too hard for you to figure out what I'm saying.

You never hung on to mine - No comment. I'll leave it up to you to put words in my mouth.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 3:30 PM

Those aren't words...

Posted by: SnarkSlope at November 7, 2008 3:36 PM

Ouch!!!

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 3:38 PM

'disease of the most gifted minds'

DIBS, I hope so.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 3:39 PM

DIBS...is snark hurting you??

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 3:40 PM

I thought he was being Snarky.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 3:41 PM

Besides, eveybody does have their little pet name for that kind of thing...like he suggests.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 3:43 PM

pet names or safe words?

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 3:45 PM

That was the 69th post. How appropriate.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 3:49 PM

69...should have gone to Biff.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 3:51 PM

Hope you all have a nice weekend. I'm headed for the train to Philly soon and have a lot of reading to do so may not login while I'm on the train.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 3:51 PM

And at this very moment, I am listening to 'Freaky Girl' by Shaggy.
How very inappropriate!!!

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 3:52 PM

Now I'm missing all the fun. By the way, I didn't see a QOTD today. If there isn't one, BRG gets to keep her title at least until Monday!

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 3:52 PM

DIBS, you too. Have a great weekend...and ring the bell!

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 3:53 PM

Have fun Dave.

69? You should be playing "Turning the Beat Around"!

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 3:54 PM

BRG, you sure you can handle three guys in here alone with you?

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 3:54 PM

The Liberty Bell??? That's a big problem now. Before 9-11 if you wanted to see it or had friends in from out of town who had to see it but you didn't want to wait in the long line you could just sneak in the back door and there it was. After 9-11 all these freedoms are gone. Its a changed world we live in.

Also they've put up all this ugly fencing around the whole Independence Hall area. It's about 4' tall so its really going to stop someone bent on destruction. The National Parks Dept. seems to be a quite clueless lot.

but it is nice to cut through the Park behind the Hall on the way to one of our favorite drinking establishments. very historic.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 3:58 PM

It was "Turn the Beat Around"...one of my all time favorite disco songs from the good ole days....long before the MAB was even likely.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 3:59 PM

Biff, two aren't interested in my type and we've determined that you like plastic, since I'm au natural, I guess I can handle myself.

BTW...Shaggy's are all the lyrics I need.
Mr. Lover, Lover turns any girl into a 'Freaky Girl'

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 3:59 PM

I guess she's right on all three counts Biff!!!! There might be a bit of a cat fight between me and BRG depending on who we both spot at the "Chocolate bar"

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 4:01 PM

BRG, what about your thoughts on my post at 3:52? Doesn't that make you happy?

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 4:01 PM

Oy, So this is what happens when What doens't post and give us a place to hang out!

Posted by: cobblehiller at November 7, 2008 4:02 PM

How long have you been lurking cobblehiller and listening to the naughty talk???

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 4:04 PM

"two aren't interested in my type"

I've been known to dabble. Got a six pack?

Posted by: SnarkSlope at November 7, 2008 4:05 PM

About 5 posts...I've been doing my job hunting homework all day and took a break and went looking for you all.

Posted by: cobblehiller at November 7, 2008 4:05 PM

cobblehiller, I've heard of people who like to watch, but never about people who like to read!

How are you doing today, old, I mean, dear friend? A bit better, I'm hoping.

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 4:05 PM

"I've been known to dabble. Got a six pack?"

Snark, are you talking to BRG or me?

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 4:05 PM

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 4:06 PM

Biff, he's all yours.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 4:08 PM

DIBS...what naughty talk? am I missing something...this is normal.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 4:09 PM

I really only read some of the trash talk over on that new houses thread and saw your post pointing here. I'm ok, trying not to P A N I C! I'm flinging resumes all over town.

Yup, voyeur....that's me.

Better Half doesn't hang out on here...he thinks it's funny/odd that I do!

My friend K would disagree with you on that DIBS.

Posted by: cobblehiller at November 7, 2008 4:12 PM

BRG, you just love happy endings, don't you?

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 7, 2008 4:16 PM

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 4:16 PM

D'OH!

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 4:17 PM

Posted by: cobblehiller at November 7, 2008 4:20 PM

BRG, your legend is living on in the "Today of the Forum" thread...we'll never forget this great quote (primarily because you won't let us).

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 4:24 PM

I see your shenanigans over there.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at November 7, 2008 4:26 PM

"Snark wants to wear Jerry Minsky's glasses."

Actually, I want to BE Jerry Minsky's glasses.

Posted by: SnarkSlope at November 7, 2008 4:30 PM

"I see your shenanigans over there."

Oops, sorry, my trench coat must have accidentally opened up.

Posted by: Biff Champion at November 7, 2008 4:30 PM
