Morris Manor Opens Today

The $8.4 million, 46-unit affordable housing development known as Morris Manor opens today at 1247 Flatbush Avenue. We got a sneak peak at some of its design elements last week (the architects, Harden + Van Arnam, are dedicated to making affordable housing look as good as market rate stuff); they're all studios with private kitchens and hardwood floors. Forty percent of units are targeted at folks earning less than $30,000. and 60% are aimed at folks from the shelter system. Case management services are provided on site.

This building went up quickly and they did an excellent job. We definitely need more of these types of units especially with on-site services. Notice how they even took care to hide the under window air conditioner boxes with a decorative grating. No Fedders metal covers!

I was at the opening. The place is really nice. The lobby looked like a luxury Condo. The rooms were lovely.
The back garden was magnificent, you forgot that you where right on Flatbush Ave.
CAMBA is doing an amazing job.
