Condos of the Day: 134 St. Marks Place

This Scarano-designed development at 134 St. Marks Place in Park Slope has had tough road. In August 2007, the seven-unit building was slated to come on the market with The Developers Group; that fall Corcoran ended up bringing it to market, before the listings were yanked last spring. Now they've popped up again with Brown Harris Stevens. To date, just two of the units have gone into contract. The remaining five range from a 683-square-foot one-bedroom asking $495,000 to $849,000 for a 1,352-square-foot two-bedroom. Have any readers been inside the building?

Wasn't one of the reasons for the delays something to do with a lawsuit from a neighboring building? I wanted to look at apartments in this building when we were searching for a place a few months ago because it's great location... like a 5 minute walk from the Atlantic Ave. Subway station and every subway line you could ever want. But I couldn't find any listings available. There were only some forum postings about the neighboring restaurant andy something to do with a lawsuit over crossing over a property line. Anyone?

this place has been sittin forever. Also the places look tiny from the street.

While the units may indeed look tiny from the street, I have it on good authority that this building unfolds into a giant battle robot.

Great location, but really bizarre looking building for what's a typical brownstone street. However, the real crime is whoever dressed those apartments up for the pictures.

i've been in the 1,352-square-foot two-bedroom in August. We actually submitted a bid for the unit and were approved, but we backed out before putting down a deposit after we had an inspector check the place out. He noted crappy construction work that would require a redo of the apartment. we didn't want the headache for "new" construction. They're using really good materials inside, but crappy workers.

yuck yuck yuck. these condos are a dime a dozen. they all look exactly alike and are completely depressing IMHO.

This part of Park Slope is terrific. The area of 5th around here is the best, in my opinion. Don't know anything about the inside, but they did just plant a couple nice sized trees out front, which improves the curb appeal a bit.

McFly - What, the zebra-print rug doesn't scream "class" to you? :)

This place looked like it was "almost done" when I was looking at an apt. rental down the block from it last year. I've been wondering what was taking them so long...
Not sure if they'll get their price, but the location is nice. I'm a fan of the restaurant next door Peperoncino.
Maybe if they have an open house some weekend when I have some time I'll stop by for a peak...

i have friends that live on this block and have walked by this place for the last year or so and area around it is always a mess. Great area tho.

Glad to hear that everyone likes the area as much as I do. I walk by this building every day but haven't seen a worker in there or any other activity for months.
It's certainly not the best design and kind of sticks out on the block, but it could be worse. Will be curious to see how it fares in this market.
