City Inks Deal to Buy Wonder Wheel Park in Coney Island

According to a press release that just went out from the EDC, the city has reached a deal to purchase the one-acre site of Wonder Wheel park in Coney Island from Ward Realty for $11 million. The site is part of the larger nine-acre parcel that the city wants to rezone as part of its 21st-century vision for the area. The city now owns about four acres of that area. No comment as of yet from Thor Equities.

I'm bummed. This means they are going to try to make it safe. The whole fun of the wonder wheel is wondering if it is going to fall down!
