Checking in on 138 Seeley

138seeley_1008.jpg
Last time we looked, in July of '07, 138 Seeley in Windsor Terrace was a construction site. The 12,253-square-foot, three-story, nine-unit building, designed by Van Brody (and in keeping with his non-contextual aesthetic), had been in the works since 2003. Well, the building is long finished but not yet occupied; according to folks at Bergen Basin Realty, the units went on sale three months ago, and "a couple of offers" have been made, but no sales yet. Prices range from $629,000 to $799,000, and it looks like they're all two-bedrooms.

Craptacular!

Walked by these a week ago and 1. could not believe they finally finished this abortion 2. was not surprised to see ZERO occupancy.

Another stellar piece of architecture added by Van Brody to Brooklyn's ever devolving new housing stock.

hopefully freddy krueger will be able to get a mortgage to live here. (even tho it looks nothing like freddy's house it gives me this nightmare on elm street kinda vibe for some reason)

Actually, it looks like Freddy lives nearby in the South Slope:

" We were biking down (up?) Driggs Avenue a few days ago when this new addition at 580 Driggs Avenue caught our eye. As we were photographing it, the owner and her daughter walked up. It turns out they're just finishing up the renovation now. We like how the three floors read as three separate blocks. What do you think?"

Just so we are clear, crap is crap. There is no distinction between the two.

You are not seeing the whole picture, and if you had a wide shot of it it actually is not as bad as it seems, it just needs some shrubs and trees. It's actually a very impressive thing to see as you approach it, but it is not a charming as the rest of the street it is on.

looks like a lost college dorm

Seeley street is a beautiful street with small 1x family houses, and these guys built this horrible thing right at the corner. Who the hell is Van Brody and how can he ever be so blind...Did anyone teached him what architecture is about? Harmony? Hellooo!
I'm not surprised nobody bought anything there, when i entered the building it and raised my eyebrows at their pricelist... 1st thing i was told without i even say a word was that prices are negociable.
Well! To make me buy there, you'd have to tore down the building and build it again...Sorry! You failed!

no one has mentioned that this structure faces the Prospect Expressway! Even though it's submerged at this point, the traffice noise can still be heard.
