Yes, it's too bad that a chain went in and not a local restaurant owner, but really -- I don't think it was papajohns that put the "typewriters and adding machines" out of business, as the tone implies.

No they didn't put them out of business, but it is still a shame that little by little, all that is unique in neighborhoods gets squeezed out in favor of larger, generic options... and in the end if we want to stall, or eliminate such development, we need to be vocal as a community, both online and in person - so it flat out sucks that Papa John's moved in and I'd hope that people would spend their hard earned cash at a business that really needs it and is more in tune with the neighborhood.

Not sure whether or not Papa John's put the typewriters and adding machines out of business, but they're sure doing their part to keep the lumber and printing industries strong with their annyoying flyers they keep leaving on my stoop!

AllBoro is long, long gone. What used to be there was a bizarre looking, dumpy, industrial bakery. Living on Grand St, I can't say that Papa Johns is that huge a disappointment (their pizza is awful though), there are plenty of vacant storefronts on Grand Street right around Papa Johns for any non-chains. I guess I'd rather have something there than nothing.

WillBklyn, I agree with you regarding their pizza. I tried it once and would rather eat their flyers than that poor excuse for a pie.
