Closing Bell: Petitioning for Music

Those lamenting the end of McCarren Park Pool Parties have a glimmer of hope in the form on an online petition. "We the Undersigned hereby urge the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a space in the Proposed Bushwick Inlet Park (rendering on the jump) in which to host the live music and cultural events that have taken place in the McCarren Park Pool." Earlier today, they'd gotten 443 folks to virtually sign. How many do you need to set the music free?

Why not have things at the Prospect Park band shell?

4:07 because no one lives around there. extend the G and maybe they'd show up.

They do have live music at the Prospect Park bandshell, but that's besides the point since Park Slope is a world away from Williamsburg, literally and figuratively.

wine lover: "no one lives around there"
This is either extreme arrogance (if tens of thousands of people a short walk away from the bandshell count as "no one") or extreme laziness ("extend the G"). Just follow my step-by-step instrutions:
1. Take the G to Smith-9th.
2. Get off the train.
3. Wait a few minutes on the platform for the F and enjoy the best view in the entire subway system.
4. Ride the F to 15th St. station.
5. Walk a short distance. If you don't know where the bandshell is, follow the crowds.
Really, people, it's not that difficult.

Unless I'm reading you wrong, all I can say is, "wine lover, well done."

They want to focus on Bushwick Inlet park? When is this scheduled to complete? This has got to be years away. They would still need to eminent domain the functioning warehouses, demo, then rebuild before the first note is played. Just dont see it happening anytime soon enough to make the concert move relevant.
