Wave of Brooklyn Heights Modifications Coming LPC's Way

Brooklyn Heights is representin' at the LPC today in a big way. The landmarked neighborhood has five items on the agenda at the weekly public meeting; Cobble Hill has a two, while Park Slope and Prospect Park South each have one. Up for discussion: facade alteration at 55 Middagh (above), a rooftop addition at 18 Grace Court, a new dormer at 24 Willow Street, a rear yard addition at 36 Grace Court and a storefront infill at 32 Hicks Street.

Anyone attend the meeting? Is it jackhammers and hardhats for Brooklyn Heights or back to the drawing board?

I'm refusing on account of brownstoner using represntin' instead of represented.

dittoburg, you should be joining the yoghurt and HOTD threads. We could use your humor!

Wow -- I lived on the ground floor of 55 Middagh for years in the 1980's. If you look closely at the iron bars on the front window, you can see that the crosspieces were soldered on at a later date -- after someone pried them apart in broad daylight to break into my apartment! Of course, the old lady across the street saw all this happening, and when the would-be burgler exited the apartment, the police were there to meet him. My landlord put up those bars the next day.
Totally cute house; don't know how thrilled I am with any alterations to it, just out of nostalgia. BTW, it's right next to PS 8 -- which was always fine, except on days I didn't go to work -- kids are LOUD at recess!
Anyone know what landmarks had to say?

According to the updated Landmarks calendar:
laid over - facade alteration at 55 Middagh
no action - rooftop addition at 18 Grace Court Alley
approved - new dormer at 24 Willow Street
approved with modifications - rear yard addition at 36 Grace Court
approved - storefront infill at 32 Hicks Street
What's the difference between "laid over" and "no action"?
