Toren Really Showing Its Skin Now

A month ago, the world got its first look at the exterior of the Toren (a Brownstoner advertiser). Now, however, the glass and, we guess, steel skin is on full display to anyone cruising down Flatbush Avenue.

Does anyone know if the Toren, when completed, will light-up at night like the model at the sales office?

How does it light up?
Posted by: onevalianteffort at August 12, 2008 4:16 PM
Like hundreds of Toren apartment dwellers flicking the lights in their apartments on and off.

Doing that will definitely nullify Toren's LEED status. The building is looking good though.

looks cool

Yea, when I purchased, I was told to flick my lights on and off on the half hour to simulate sales office demo.

At what point does it begin to even vaguely resemble the computer renderings?
Posted by: SnarkSlope at August 13, 2008 1:54 PM
How does it not look like it?

Snark - i'm confused - isn't that photo above actually a computer rendering? are you now falling for this pro development propaganda also? RE is crashing - there is no way that this stuff is getting built in downtown bk. the dow is going to zero and all banks are going to fail.
building looks absolutely incredible. pride to the boro that we got this beaut over manhattan.

onevalianteffort - All the cool wavy stuff is missing. Hopefully that was not "value engineered" out, as that is what made the rendering so impressive.

I think we're starting to see the "cool wavy stuff" on the highest floor visible here. But it's an effect that needs many floors in place in order to be impressive.

The panels with the bumps on them look like Legos.
