Streetlevel: Il Porto Opening Tomorrow
We may have been jumping the gun a little when we proclaimed back in April that Il Porto, the pioneering Italian spot in Wallabout, was "nearing launch." Now, however, after stopping by during a friends-and-family soft launch yesterday, we can report with confidence that the restaurant will be open to the public tomorrow. As the photos show, the eatery sports a brick oven, full bar and lots o' tables. Il Porto joins the cuban restaurant Mojito on this block of Washington Avenue, which also counts RePop and PEP Gallery as tenants. Let's hope Il Porto can make this location workwe think this block has great potential.

I wish them well. Wish they were closer or on Myrtle Ave.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't Mojito on Vanderbilt between Willoughby and Myrtle?

Wasder,
No, Mojito is on Washington and Park. Are yout thinking of Luz?

Yep, that's the one. Thanks for correcting me. I know Mojito.

One possible stumbling block I noticed the other day walking past: the area reeked of rotting garbage, probably from the produce warehouse just up the block.
Mojito is 82 Washington Ave, accross the street and closer to Park Ave.

Let's get some reviews up soon so we can decide if the trip to Wallabout is worth it. Il Porto people, fix the address on your website, it says "Washingtong" Avenue. Good luck.
