Closing Bell: Children Museum's Readies for Launch

Renovations just about complete at the Brooklyn Children's Museum, folks are readying the exhibitions for the grand re-opening on September 20th. Last week, a team hoisted this "Carranca" — a talisman once attached to northern Brazilian boats to keep away evil spirits — onto a faux boat at Collections Central. The Amazon River-dwelling wooden monster weighs several hundred pounds and is 83 inches high. We took a look at the new design back in June.

have been waiting for the re-opening, showed up last month with the young 'uns and had no idea it was closed for reno.
