Love that house - anyone know the history?

That house was home to Charles Higgins, of Higgins India Ink fame. For a while the business was processed from that location until he got MUCH bigger.
Of not, Higgins was a huge preservationist and revolutionary war historian. He advocated for the recognition of the Battle of Brooklyn, helped with the rebuilding of the Old Stone House and had the "famous" Statue on Minerva on Green-Wood Cemetery's Battle Hill, who is in permanent salute to the Statue of Liberty in the harbor, marking the very place over 6,000 soldier fell as they defended Washington's retreat from Brooklyn (L.I.) back in August of 1776.
And a pretty dandy looking home too boot!

It looks like the Banana Splits live there now.

A beautiful Painted lady. Not to say I wouldn't do mine in different colors, but that's what she is.

Actually with Action's info I was able to find that the house has a website
http://thebigbluehouse.com/jake/jakes_bodega/home.htm
and it was actually built by a Wall St Financier William B. Cronyn in 1855 (see how long Wall St has been moving to P.S.)

Very cool! I love the owner's unique style and individuality. The house reminds me of the house in the movie Nanny McPhee, which is one of my favorite movie houses.
Thanks so much, Action Jackson and fsrq, for all of the great info and the link.

dittoburg, you just made my day. I can almost picture Fleegle and Bingo peering out of those fantastical windows above.

I'm not going to ask how you know their names, Biff.
