Streetlevel: Choice Empire Expanding to Dumbo's J Condo

In his acceptance speech at last Thursday night's Brooklyn Building Awards ceremony, David Kramer of Hudson Companies and the Third & Bond Blog, spilled the beans on a piece of tasty storefront news: Choice Market, which began with a store at the corner of Grand Avenue and Lafayette in Clinton Hill before expanding to sell at the Brooklyn Flea, will be opening a new location in the ground floor of Hudson's J Condo development in Dumbo. The high-ceilinged corner space is at the corner of Jay and York, across the street from the F train entrance. Expect more of the same yummy pastries, sandwiches and prepared foods. Big news for Dumbo!

Congrats to Dumbo!! Nice news.
Any chance we can get one of these in the North Slope?
I need to get a second job just to shop at Union Market.

Good news for Dumbo, but what about the new outpost of Choice Market on Greene and Grand in CH? I saw the owner of Choice come out of the place this morning. What's taking so long?

Greenewithenvy - I think the new "outpost" you're referring to is a separate store with fresh cut flowers, crudite etc. - not a cafe like their market around the corner on Grand and Lafayette. Not sure when it opens officially...

Choice's owner has had probs with Landmarks, but should be open in about a month. It's going to be a fantastic, much needed grocery with flowers, bread, meat, fish, cheese and produce. I can't wait.

This is awesome. Dumbo needs better grocery options. Any idea when it will open?

Congrats to Choice. I've eaten at the original store many times and the food is just great, nothing else like it for that type of setting. It's clear the owners are committed to excellence and I know the Dumbo site will be an enormous enhancement to the neighborhood. It gets my highest recommendation.
