Its interesting that the daily news is referring to young upwardly mobile professionals - the original meaning of the word yuppie, which somehow got replaced by the dumbass public as young urban professionals. (As opposed young rural professionals?)

where's the Charles Rangel rent stabilization story on the round up? It's a great one. He has four rent-stabilized apartments. I know it's in Harlem, but it's still a good story.

Yuppie means white, young urban professionals means black, or just non-white.

Posted by: guest at July 11, 2008 10:08 AM

Yuppie is the anchronym for Young Upwardly- Mobile Professional. A Yuppie can be from any ethnic/racial background. The term "Buppie" was coined in Atlanta, to differentiate the growing number of Black Upwardly-Mobile Professionals in corporate and high ranking government positions, who seemed to dominate the job market in Atlanta, from their white counterparts.

Why make the distinction? Although the Black underclass is definitely struggling, the Black middle class has continued to do well. I and most of my 40 something college friends have done extremely well for ourselves. So well in fact that we may soon have a Black President!

10.08 - a fine example of the dumbass public that no.1 poster refers to.

I don't get the fuss about a black president when we've already had a black secretary of defense and a black secretary of state (the most powerful woman in the world in reality). Its like Powell and Rice never existed.

FREDDIE MAC 4.42 -44.75 118519457
FANNIE MAE 7.8 -40.91 110383905

This is your equity getting pounded! I think yesterday you lost about 10% on the value of your debt-trap.

Someday this war is gonna end...

Okay 10:53, I know that you are not that dunb. Ask Powell or Rice what the difference is between being Secretary of State or Secretary of Defense and being President. Nobody is ignoring their accomplishments but the term UPWARDLY mobile would make President the next logical step and having a Black one would cause a "fuss" considering the history of race relations in this country.

You are really not that dumb? Are You 10:53?

"Nobody is ignoring their accomplishments "

They are ignoring it, and have done so continually. Ask any of the underclass at the PJs. They won't even know who you are talking about. I know from experience.

"This is definitely not good," said a local broker who requested anonymity. "The phones have just about stopped ringing."

" thought wall street had no effect on bklyn RE. dumbasses. this is gonna be fun"

No it will be a nightmare. I hope the Asshats realize how bad the Fannie and Freddie situation is. We are f---ed....

Here is something for all the dumbasses who believe the US Government is going to backstop Fannie and Freddie..

Fannie’s Fiction: No U.S. Guarantee

http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/07/11/fannies-fiction-no-us-guarantee/

The New York Times reported Friday that senior officials from the Bush administration have considered calling for legislation that would offer an explicit government guarantee on the $5 trillion of debt owned or guaranteed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, another government-sponsored mortgage finance company that is in trouble.

But one reason that they didn’t was because such a law was expected to have little effect: The markets already assumed the guarantee was there.

Yep ASSume on. This is first shockwave to the Mutant Real Estate Bubble and there is no "upside" Welcome to Mad Max!

The What (I told you)

Someday this war is gonna end..

Who cares about the rankings. Only a few years ago Las Vegas was the place to be as it's expansion was unstoppable. Now look at it. It's longevity and consistency that counts and NYC will always be there for that. So those that believe they magazine articles and base their life on it..... Well.
