Be@Schermerhorn Website Fleshed Out, Still No Pricing

189-Schermerhorn-Street-0708.jpg
be-interior-0708.jpgThe website for be@schermerhorn went from placeholder to real-estate-porn status last week. There's lot of teaser info now about floorplans and finishes but no money shot: The only price info remains the price range indications in the "Contact" area of the site. As we pointed out when we reported the site's launch, the 250 or so units will be comprised of studios, one bedrooms and two bedrooms, with the cheapest apartments starting above $300,000. According to the site, formal sales will begin in the Fall.

Pricing is available through the broker. I emailed and was able to receive a list of available apartments. They are really lacking information though in terms of finishes, details on amenities, etc. They are offering 5% discounts if you buy before the sales officially start.

Small bedrooms and living areas. No washer/dryer and not much in the way of closet/storage space. And they look like every other new condo out there. The only thing to like are the views from the high flors and large terraces on a few of them. Otherwise -- ugh.

Ohhh, _that's_ what that giant POS is. I could see it going up from my back window and couldn't figure out why they'd put terraces on a fugly office tower. Silly me.

Pricing is available? Oh good, I'll price one at $50 and buy it. Oh wait, you mean prices are available.

Can't expect brokers to know the difference between a transitive verb and a noun. Or "luxury" and "pedestrian".

so, grippy, does this mean you live in one of the 14 townhouses? if so, ooh la la!! lucky you (to have such a great view of that giant POS).

What's a POS? Is this another one of those texting abbreviations that I should know but never do?

Posted by: Nokilissa at July 28, 2008 12:01 PM

Hi Nokilissa! Good seeing you here. POS is piece of sh1t. It's not an abbreviation you would want attributed to your home, your view, your neighborhood, etc.

Yes, pricing (information) IS available. I love people who sit on message boards and correct grammar. I guess from now on I should proofread all of my posts to make sure I get a good grade and don't fail out of the Brownstoner Message Board Academy.

Why are they waiting so long to sell this? The building looks almost done. Standard procedure is to start sales a year or two in advance.

Posted by: zinka at July 28, 2008 12:33 PM

I don't hate this building nearly as much as everyone here does, it seems.

It's certainly better than a lot of other stuff I've seen lately.

Lack of in-unit washer/dryer is puzzling.

Posted by: LilBitOfLuck at July 28, 2008 2:35 PM

Agree with 11217, not so bad this time. Not great, but could be MUCH worse.

Biff! Lovely to see you as well.

Not a bad development at all, and on a block that really needs it.

I'm curious to see how well (or how poorly) the units sell given the current economic malaise. I'm hoping they make out alright--hopefully, more residents will translate into more shops and services for the immediate area.

Although it's probably going to be cheaper than either the Toren or Oro, the location is head and shoulders above anything on that stretch of Flatbush.

The love certainly isn't mutual.

Posted by: dittoburg at July 28, 2008 5:32 PM

Please don't judge Flatbush Corridor on what is there now. When City Point is built, where the old Albee Square Mall was, this will have a major impact on the Flatbush environment. Add to this the completion of Avalon Bay, landscaping of Flatbush. Willoughby Square Park etc. and Flatbush will be much different in 3 years than what you see now.
