so who's going to be the first idiot to point out the absence of a particular demographic from the fort greene market picture?

Ummm...You were you racist troll

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at June 12, 2008 9:02 AM

I was thinking the same thing, 9:00AM. No Native Americans in sight!

Posted by: guest at June 12, 2008 9:37 AM

Why does the MTA give away free rides every year around Christmas/New Years when the city is full of tourists who would pay full fare and then whine about their budget shortfall?

Posted by: guest at June 12, 2008 9:49 AM

Will someone please privatize the MTA.

Posted by: guest at June 12, 2008 9:50 AM

fire everyone at the MTA and rebuild it from the ground up

Posted by: guest at June 12, 2008 10:04 AM

Dave, go ahead and explain why no. 1 is racist.

Posted by: guest at June 12, 2008 10:12 AM

9am appears to be mocking those, often present on this site, who see racism everywhere, including the camera.

reactionary Dave proves her point.

how is the mta revenue falling? wouldn't higher gas prices lead to more people riding subway/buses lead to higher revenues?

Posted by: guest at June 12, 2008 11:44 AM

That "single girl's guide" article..."dress to impress"... Yuck! Ladies, the only thing that needs to be dressed to impress is your bank account - then everything elsew will be very easy.

Posted by: guest at June 12, 2008 12:00 PM

I love you all!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I noticed there are very few apparent males in that photo of the FG Gruenmarkt. I think that was the point. Unless the person who took it wanted that picture of her/his mother looking at the plants.

Boy, we need to upgrade our green market to the level of the one in Nice. The area set aside for the "local only" which is the parking lot section in front of the prefecture (police building) is fab-u-lous.

I have to say though, the FG Gruenpunkt is one of the City's more charming. It has dappled sun through the chestnut trees and the feeling is very small town. A pleasure...overpriced...but a pleasure. Too bad the milk seller that had us all swooning isn't around anymore...and the fish lady is not exactly nice...but all-in-all, it is friendly...but, yes, prices out many people. The prices are not necessarily higher than many other green markets in NYC, mind. Kind of a shame.

I hate to ask...

as I'm not certain about post #1's intention... to be playfully mocking as pointed out by 10:17, or to be reactionary and rile folks up about the apparent lack of "multi-culti"-ness...but here goes.

How is it that this picture shows anything other than a snapshot of people, whatever their race or culture, interested in the greenmarket's goods on that day in that particular corner? How is it apparently white people's fault that other races are not apparently present? It seems to me that anyone, of any race, is welcomed at these markets. Last I checked.

A lot of "apparently's", and perhaps a leap in my logic?

There.

Nokilissa- I think he really was just playing because someone consistently tries to say the the Flea caters only to white people and implies that no Black people are welcome because Mr. B is supposedly racist. Of course, as anyone who goes to the flea knows that's not the case for either vendors or customers. It's a great multi-cultural mix but as we've seen, there's always someone who wants to create problems, even where there is none. But I really think Post # 1 was playing on that.
