Hotel Developer Snaps Up Sunset Park Warehouse

139-33rd-street-06-2008.jpeg
Last week SAI Hospitality, a hotel builder that's been bullish on Brooklyn lately, closed on the purchase of a warehouse on 33rd Street between 3rd and 4th avenues. The company paid $2.45 million for a 10,000-square-foot building that could be replaced by a building double its size. More and more developers have been planning hotels for the industrial section of Sunset Park. There are hotels in the works on 38th, 39th, 49th, and 59th streets, most of them west of 4th Avenue. SAI Hospitality also has two hotels on the drawing board for President Street in Gowanus. Can there really be enough demand to support all these?

There's a hotel that looks close to opening on 39th between 8th and 9th Aves. Anyone know any more info on it?

who are all the customers for these hotels? Don't they have to rebuild the water front first, Aren't they counting the chicks before the eggs hatch.

The area that you are talking about is surrounded by many positive things. The customers would be the people that are coming in for cruises. The ports are about a 1 1/2 half away from sunset park. The subway is about 2 blocks away if you are coming to visit Manhattan. Everything is easily accesible.
