Development Watch: Karl Coming to 196 Wallabout Street

196-Wallabout-Street-0608.jpg
Check this out. Guess who's got a big new project smack in the middle of the Hasidic Boomtown at the intersection of Bed Stuy and South Williamsburg? None other than Karl Fischer. According to plans approved by DOB last week, none other than Karl Fischer will be converting this four-story commercial building into a residential with a community space for developer Simon Dushinsky; in the process, he'll be designing an extra two floors up top in addition to a new seven-story building behind it at 503 and 505 Flushing Avenue. Can't wait to see what this ends up looking like! GMAP P*Shark DOB

So is Karl doing a luxury building for Hasids or a bunch of hipsters going to be invading Hasid turf?

Oh wow, that is a really terrible area for a non-hasidic condo. Flushing is a hasidic tenement yard!

This really is one of the most depressing, ugly areas of NYC. You couldn't pay me enough to live here.
