aha, now that mobile shake shack truck parking at metrotech is starting to make some sense. get people on line to buy burgers while they are on line buying tickets. genius.

No, 4:35, I don't when was that? And 4:30, the booth at the South Street Seaport isn't open on the weekends either.

I'm not really thrilled about this. TKTS is a menace. Soon downtown Bklyn will be swamped with tourists looking for shorter line, clogging the sidewalks and meandering into people. Putting my hand in a garbage disposal would be less torture!

When Fulton Mall opened way back in the early eighties there was a TKTS Booth in front of the New York Bank for Savings ans Albee Square Mall. It was a big bust and didn't last long. Maybe Brooklynites have now become theatergoers and it will last this time around.

yeah, 5:29, more tax dollars to downtown brooklyn, which has been all but a ghetto for the last 30 years sounds like TERRIBLE NEWS!

"Brooklyn is now recognized as one of the cultural jewels of New York City," said Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz.
By selling tickets for shows in - drumroll please - MANHATTAN!

With the hotels under construction within walking distance of this location and all the college kids (Poly/NYU, City Tech, St. Francis, Brooklyn Law, LIU) it may be able to survive. The Marriott is booming, the NU Hotel at the corner of Smith and Atlantic is getting close to being done and the new hotel on Duffield can't be more than 6 - 8 months away.
It's a shame that they won't have Saturday hours but MetroTech is still a bit of a ghost town after 5 on Fridays.

5:29 (and anyone else who's worried):
The only TKTS outlet with crazy lines of tourists is the one in Times Square. I've visited the outpost at South Street Seaport many times and rarely find the line longer than 20 (mostly local) folks.
So, yay!

this is a great move

5:32, that's right! Now that you write where, I can picture it. I sometimes hop over to the Seaport for tickets, which as 'curiosity' notes, has few customers. I will be checking out the new booth regularly.
