Waterfalls Project Rising in Brooklyn Bridge Park

A couple of readers today emailed us photos of the New York City Waterfalls project coming along between Piers 4 and 5 in Brooklyn Bridge Park. This is one of four such installations designed by Danish artist Olafur Eliasson; the other three are being constructed under the Brooklyn Bridge, on Governers Island and at Pier 35 in Manhattan.

Speaking of Pier 5, any news on whether or not we're getting the Floating Pool again this summer?

"Floating Pool Lady" will be in the Bronx for summer 2008.

More importantly (actually not as important as losing the floating pool, but anyway), thanks Brownstoner for letting us know what this project is. I have been wondering over the past week or so as I've viewed it from the Promenade.

I told at least a dozen tourists that it was a diving platform. Glad to learn of its real use.

8:32, thanks for the morning laugh! I think it's actually funnier to provide your explanation to tourists. If ok, I would like to borrow that line.

Hi Biff. Please feel free to spread the word. It does look more like a diving platform than a support for a very pricey waterfall.

It certainly does. Thanks again for the great line.

How lovely they will be for those in Manhattan! Maybe the can install asses on them to face Brooklyn since we are not worthy enough to view them here.
