StreetLevel: Beers and Blowouts Coming to North 7th

Two well-loved NYC businesses are setting up shop right next door to each other on North 7th Street in Williamsburg. At 113 North 7th, which is between Berry and Whythe, East Village bar d.b.a. just signed a lease for its first Brooklyn outpost (there's one in New Orleans, as well). One of d.b.a.'s owners says the bar, which is known for its extensive beer selection, should be up and running in the Burg by the end of next month. Meanwhile, next door at 115 North 7th, The Beehive Salon, late of Lorimer Street, will be opening its new location this coming weekend. The salon's employees say they were booted out of their old salon because "it's being turned into condos." Beehive has made it onto "best-of" lists in the Voice, L magazine, and Citysearch. GMAP

Regarding d.b.a, this was on the park slope message board last week...
"Anyone have scoop on whether or not this new storefront on Flatbush and Dean is related to d.b.a. in the East Village? Interesting choice of location..."

Columbus, Ohio? Bullshit.
dba couldnt be more of a NY bar.
This is a plus for Williamsburg and a plus for Brooklyn. And VERY NY.
Dunno about the salon.

I'm sure the bar is VERY NY. Whatever that means.
But that building looks right out of Anytown, USA.
UG-LY!

is d.b.a as "new york" as sex in the city?

No, Sex in the City is artificial, trite and imported.
dba is a great downtown beer bar.

dba is one of my favorite bars in Manhattan--great news that one is opening in Brooklyn.

i think the "dba" you saw on flatbush is open now as some kind of VERY NY overpriced athletic shoe store. it has black light, people, so you know it's special.

dba used to be great. last time I was there, about 2 months ago, the back half of the place smelled like a urinal. nasty!
Posted by: guest at May 12, 2008 4:48 PM
last time i was dba, every girl in the joint was from staten island.
every girl.
i guess that is "VERY NY" but not exactly what i was hoping for.

dba is a decent place...glad it's coming to brooklyn and hope that the flatbush/dean location is true (though i doubt it).

Great place to meet all those NJ girls that flock to Sea, up the street. VERY NY indeed....

I heard a rumor that Angela Harriell's 'The Love Show' might be bringing their special brand of sexy/funny dance/variety to the performance space there. I'm not sure if it's true, but I'm picturing myself watching 'The Love Show' doing it's thing while I'm nursing a pint of some cask-conditioned treasure, and, in that picture, I'm smiling like the Cheshire Cat.
