Garden of the Day: Praiseworthy in Park Slope

Today's submission comes from Park Slope. The garden has been a work-in-progress since 2001. When the current owners bought the house it had a huge pine tree and some grass in a raised square bed with concrete walkways surrounding the raised bed. "It was all very awkward," writes the owner. The "before" photo at the end of the slideshow shows the garden after all the concrete had been removed. The beautiful circular table they purchased four years ended up not fitting through the front door so they ended up having to hoist it over the roof! The chairs were picked up at the Park Slope flea market. Other than that, you can tell that they are big clematis fans. Great job.

beautiful from above, although it looks a b it over grown? Really like the natural look of it, and the stones.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 10:46 AM

Maybe an eensy weensy bit overgrown, but otherwise, it's GAWGEOUS. The middle picture is beautiful.

Posted by: Biff Champion at May 14, 2008 10:58 AM

I like the vines what are they?

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 11:01 AM

Thanks Biff.

If anyone is interested, the apartment that goes along with this garden will be available for rent starting around August 1. It's huge - parlor floor duplexed into the English Basement. Very high end kitchen appliances, dishwasher, washer/dryer.

We use it as a 1 bedroom, but it could be a two or even a three bedroom. It has 1 and 1/2 bathrooms. Center Slope, 321 District. I haven't made a decision on the rent yet - probably around $4500.

If interested contact me at Brooklynnative at Yahoo dot com.

I like the overgrown on purpose quality of this garden. Spectacular job.

Posted by: Fjorder at May 14, 2008 11:10 AM

Doesn't look overgrown to me. That looks like clematis sweet autumn.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 11:10 AM

Shameful For Rent posting!!!!!

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 11:14 AM

Is this the building that has some rent controlled evil tenant who put in their own washer/dryer w/o permission and yells at anyone you send to fix things and the judge when you take her to court? Wasn't it you who posted about that situation on the forum? It's a lovely garden, but I wouldn't pay that much to live below that woman.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 11:15 AM

The overgrown garden pales in comparison to the overgrown ask rent.

$4,500 for a garden apt?!

Good luck with that dude.

$4,500 after-tax supports over a million-dollar mortgage.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 11:18 AM

Well, that woman is four floors up and she wouldn't bother you if you're not the owner.

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 11:19 AM

Yes, 11:15 you are correct..it was Brooklynnative who posted that. If you click on his login id you can see the post!!!

Fess up Brooklynnative........

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 11:20 AM

Does this one come with a washer & dryer????

For $4,500 it better!!!!

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 11:21 AM

Fess up to what? I already acknwledged it's me. What's the big deal?

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 11:22 AM

Dave,

You're not only paranoid, you don't appear to be a very good reader. Try reading my "shameful for rent posting" again.

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 11:24 AM

I hate this garden's sense of entitlement. Last week I was walking on Seventh Avenue and this garden rammed a double stroller into my shins, didn't even apologize

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 11:25 AM

Back to the garden,

If by "vines" you mean the second picture with the stairs it is a Clematis (paniculata). Fantastic plant, it flowers in the fall and they last a good long while. It grew that much in about three years and is now climbing the building and going up the cable lines. It looks to be planted in a cooler spot with shade but then the leaves will want sun so putting it next to a fence like we did works well.

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 11:28 AM

Dave...you really are a jackass.

Why can't you calm the f*ck down.

Seriously. You are that annoying person in grade school who raised their hand whenever the teacher spoke.

Grow up, dude.

And get a life while you're at it.

You post at least 200 times a day. It's absurd.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 11:28 AM

Paranoid about what?? As far as submitting your garden and THEN posting the For Rent ad...that's what's shameful.

Is the price so high because you don't get any rent for the unit above with the soon-to-be-leaking illegal washer???

Don't come at me when you so blatantly abuse the site for a rental post and show everyone how spineless you are in dealing with your rent controlled tenant.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 11:29 AM

Nothing to do before heading out to lunch that's why 11:28.

Glad I riled you up...have a discussion about it tonight with your bf or gf, get into an arguement and then get nothing!!!

Otherwise add something to the thread you jack@ss

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 11:32 AM

You disgust me, Dave.

Your post at 11:29 is downright mean and nasty.

You have shown your true colors.

No wonder your lover doesn't live in the same city as you. I couldn't stand to be near such a hateful person either 7 days a week.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 11:35 AM

Dave this is clearly the nicest posting yet so I don't think it's just a shameless ad. You clearly don't know a thing about shame. You should be ashamed of the fact that you impose on all of us your endless 6th grade boyish interactions with biff and jerri. Don't you people have phones? Take your childish behavior off the blog and interact in person. This is not a chat room for losers who are afraid to see how ugly there cyber friends are, it;s a real estate blog. This backyard is relevant, your drivel is not.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 11:39 AM

I like the garden....OK 11:35...There's nothing mean or nasty going on. It's the ridiculous rent classified he throws in. Brownstoner takes real estate agent posts off when they pop up in The Forum, why should it occur here???

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 11:39 AM

believe it or not, YOU don't run this website, dave. no one cares what you think is shameful or not. and no one said it wasn't ok to MENTION that the apt. might be for rent in a few months. you don't make the rules for brownstoner.com

the garden is gorgeous. so shut your face.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 11:39 AM

brooklynnative has been nothing but respectful and intelligent in his posts, from what i've seen. he also stays on topic and doesn't flirt with married men named biff on a public website about real estate.

i wish the same could be said of you, dave.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 11:42 AM

WOW, now my feelings are really hurt!!!

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 11:42 AM

Thanks 11:39 - we've put a lot of hours into this garden. That tree above the table is a Magnolia which is spectacular in the Spring and we also have some mature rose bushes which I don't have any pictures of. I submitted a whole bunch more pics which Stoner didn't post.

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 11:43 AM

Dave...you give Bed Stuy a bad name.

And it doesn't need any more help...

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 11:43 AM

I didn't think you had feelings.

You certainly don't act like it. You are a disgusting excuse for a human being if this is actually how you behave and treat other people.

You've RUINED this great thread about a beautiful garden.

Thank you Dave.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 11:44 AM

Hey, let's not overlook the fact that dave has matured to multiple question marks to go with his exhausting exclamation mark habit.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 11:46 AM

Maybe we can all just ignore Dave for a while?

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 11:46 AM

So its OK then to post apartment for rent classifieds in the middle of this site???

Let me see how you all feel about that when they all start popping up all over this site. Yes, the beautiful garden and the nice talk about it on this thread are fine. But criticize something that Mr. B does not allow, as a rule, and you all start the name calling and true colors appear, faded grey type notwithstanding...

What a load of hippocrits!!!

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 11:49 AM

If Brownstoner didn't want the mention of the rental, he'd take it off. Clearly that isn't going to happen. Go start your own blog with Biff, Dave. People here are sick of you both. Jerri had the right idea by dissappearing. You two should try it.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 11:49 AM

daveinbedstuy makes me miss The What.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 11:52 AM

The rules are NOT MADE BY YOU DAVE!!!

SHUT UP!! In case you can't tell, the people on this blog are sick of you!!!

Yes, this post needed many exclamation points.

If Dave could, I'm sure he's hot his "i" with a heart.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 11:53 AM

Time out for lunch. Back at you all later. Continue to spew hate about my factual post!! Please stay on topic re: the garden itself, not the apartment for rent and have a nice day all of you. :-)

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 11:59 AM

kinda agree with Dave. the apt offer is a bit low and Mr. b does take them off elsewhere. but garden is really nice

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 12:01 PM

i see no problem with mentioning it. not as if they are looking for someone now. he said august 1st. no one is looking now for august 1st. it was something to mention since this is the freakin garden attached to said apt.

you all are so sensitive and overly dramatic, it's not even funny.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 12:03 PM

Dave, it is clear that most readers are ok with the occasional "ad" when it is relevant to the post. What we are not ok with is having to wade through you, jerri, biff, and at times, nokillisa interrupting real estate discussions with your crass innuendo laden irrelevant posts. What makes it worse is that when anyone responds to this crap you all type, you attack them for not adding to the thread. You are the worst offenders of that 'crime against blog'. Go get a life or at least a real life friend. Obviously no one in your office will speak with you. Guess why.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 12:08 PM

Anyone, anywhere, have any questions or comments regarding the garden? I can't believe this has degenerated into another vitriolic war over absolute silliness.

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 12:11 PM

Very nice job fitting the flagstones together to make the patio.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 12:14 PM

SHUT UP, DAVE!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 12:17 PM

You are a real nutjob, Dave. I was hoping you'd take longer than 15 minutes to eat lunch.

I guess shovelling in a few big macs and an extra large fries doesn't take that long when your stomach is that big...

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 12:18 PM

OK...the caps really got to me 12:17. Do you like anything about the garden or not?

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 12:18 PM

I comment about something that's really hard to do in landscaping and all I get back is the true color of hate of all the rest of you!!!

PS I didn't go out to lunch yet since you're so concerned.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 12:21 PM

I dislike Dave more than the What. And I never thought that was possible.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 12:21 PM

To hell with the garden. Your immature and poorly spelled posts ("hippocrits") ruined that long ago. Now we're focusing on how much of an annoying jerk-off you are. Just GO TO LUNCH already!

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 12:24 PM

I'd like to comment that out of Daves approximately 20 posts on this thread, ONE has been related to the garden.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 12:26 PM

I have 3 garden question:

1) are the aliums up now or is that a photo from last year? I see them around the nabe, but mine aren't opening.

2) are the stones cemented in place or just laid over dirt/gravel? I see some kind of groundcover popping through some breaks, but I always wonder how to get that effect. Those HGTV type shows usually have such stones laid over layers of compacted gravel/sand. Those aren't the best growing media even for tough steppable plants. Also did you plant that stuff in there or did it volunteer itself.

3)How sunny/shady is this yard? The photos make it look bright, but I always wonder how much sun these dark back yards get. Several of these garden posts have included plantings of sun perrenials that I thought wouldn't thrive in a brownstone yard.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 12:28 PM

This is my favorite garden so far!

So LUSH!!!

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 12:31 PM

"So its OK then to post apartment for rent classifieds in the middle of this site??? Let me see how you all feel about that when they all start popping up all over this site."

You don't care about people posting classifieds in the site. In reality, you desperately want, for some strange reason, to prove to a bunch of strangers how clever you THINK you are. It's really very sad.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 12:33 PM

You hit the nail on the head, 12:33.

And the more he posts, the more we all realize how NOT clever dear old Dave really is.

Which makes him angry and makes him post even more, digging himself further in the hole.

Honestly if I didn't know better, I'd think by his posts that Dave is a quirky real estate obsessed 18 year-old suffering from severe acne.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 12:43 PM

12:28, thank you, thank you, thank you.

1. The purple aliums have been up for at least a week. That's a great plant. We have white star types that are just now starting to bloom.

2. The stones are just sitting on sand/dirt. You have a good eye, the "ground cover" is actually moss. It's taken a while for that to take, partly because we didn't realize at first that we needed to water the stones to keep the moss alive. We also planted sorrel which has reseeded itself and is now growing in various parts on the edges of the flagstones. It seems to really like to find craggy bits in between stone.

3. It's south facing so we get a lot of light from the table towards our building. The part with the couch under the tree - a magnolia - gets virtually no light. However, you can see that our euonymus bush next to the couch has thrived there.

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 12:45 PM

The magnolia (neighbors, right?) is actually fantastic. How old do you think it is to get that high?

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 12:51 PM

The magnolia is definitely over 20 years old. However, I hear that they grow incredibly fast.

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 12:58 PM

Thanks. Truce?

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 1:01 PM

I have not seen someone so desperate for attention as you, Dave. Especially by anonymous people on a blog.

Were you abandoned by your mother as a child???

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 1:10 PM

1:10...you're right, its a blog, do you understand what that means?. I will not stoop so low as to use mother jokes though.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 1:20 PM

i think both dave and brooklynnative add a lot of positive comments and feedback in The Forum section to legitimate questions. I think it was a little unscrupulous for brooklynnative to use the garden post as a venue for the apartment posting and dave criticized it and then was jumped all over.

He may be a bit too vociferous but at least he's signed in and lets you all know when its he who is commenting. how many of the rest of us signed in as guests go on and on with lots of vitriolic garbage?

btw I like the garden a lot and this was my first time on here today!

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 1:29 PM

For the record, we have obviously put a lot of effort over the years into transforming our garden and I submitted my pictures to Stoner before we decided we will most likely move in August. When I sent Stoner the pictures it purely to show off my garden if that can be somehow be considered a more "scrupulous" motive.

It's unlikely anyone would be looking to rent in August, but as we are definitely interested in finding someone who will tend after our garden while we're away, I figured I should mention the fact of its availability in a forum which obviously attracts green thumbs. I now regret doing that because I had been hoping the conversation would be centered on the garden and not the rental.

Finally, I think most people who post on this site have intelligent and helpful things to stay about Brooklyn Real Estate. I only wish the majority would simply ignore the minority when they rant and rave about trivial BS. It gets really tiresome and I think the idiots would go away if they failed to provoke a response.

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 1:46 PM

I think this post somebody wrote bears repeating. It says what we're ALL thinking lately about the little Brownstoner Dave, Jerri & Biff clique:

"Dave, it is clear that most readers are ok with the occasional "ad" when it is relevant to the post. What we are not ok with is having to wade through you, jerri, biff, and at times, nokillisa interrupting real estate discussions with your crass innuendo laden irrelevant posts. Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 1:49 PM

I haven't seen a post from Jerri in weeks.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 1:54 PM

Getting back to the garden ... I don't think it's overgrown at all. I agree with the earlier poster who called it lush. Just my style -- a space of verdant greenery in the middle of Brooklyn. Love it. (And I don't see anything wrong with mentioning that the apartment that goes along with the garden will soon be for rent. This is a real estate blog, right?)

Posted by: Park Sloper at May 14, 2008 2:09 PM

To all the faded typers so full of negativity: until now I had exactly one post in this thread and it was complimentary to the garden. Ironically, almost every guest comment from 11:30 or so on has had nothing to do with the garden. It's really easy to hide behind a "guest" label, criticize others and not allow others to track your opinion and hold you accountable to it today and months from now, isn't it? Kudos to guest at 1:29 for astutely pointing out that not only do dave and brooklynnative add a lot to this blog, but the negative guest comments are actually much more hate-filled than those of us who sign-in. Go look at any other thread here today and you'll see.

I just thought I would pop by and comment since my name's been mentioned here. But at the end of the day, I really don't care what anyone thinks other than those who have signed in and whom I respect. I'm not going anywhere, sorry.

Posted by: Biff Champion at May 14, 2008 2:11 PM

Hey Biff...here's a comment from your friend Dave from the street cleaning thread...

***
"Thank you 10:42...what have you actually added to the thread, you useless tool??

Don't start calling names, I know more words than you do!!!"

Yeah, he stays on topic perfectly is is TOTALLY respectful.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 2:20 PM

Hey Brooklynnative, nice garden, did you design it yourself or did someone help you.

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 2:24 PM

Hey Brooklynnative, nice garden, did you design it yourself or did someone help you?

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 2:24 PM

Yeah, I have to boost 1:49 and whomever they quoted especially after biff just wrote that crap again about how others are negative and should stay on topic. Biff thinks he's funny when his highly offensive and completely off topic 'jokes' with the others names clog up the threads. He obviously just doesn't get it.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 2:24 PM

2:20, if you're going to quote, do it in context. That was a direct response by Dave to the following guest comment, "Daveinbedstuy :you mentioned stroller moms in a post, you're so clever. You are our winner you useless tool."

It may not be convenient to your argument, but next time give the whole story. Truth is, as opposed to guests, those of us who sign in rarely attach without first being attacked.

Posted by: Biff Champion at May 14, 2008 2:25 PM

Thanks Brooklynnative. We had a pretty good idea of the layout and worked with a guy named Andrew Leslie Phillips of Stone and Garden on Vanderbilt. However, I think he entered the film business and has since left town.

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 2:25 PM

Im being serious when I say this...

Dave and Biff are ruining this website for me.

It's taken a major downturn since they started with the disrespect for the fact that this is supposed to be a real estate blog and not a gab session at Excelsior.

I find their posting of 200 plus comments a day each to be ridiculous and sad.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 2:26 PM

2:24 guest, since you clearly get it, why don't you sign in and make a point...I just know you have it in you and can do it!

Or not...

Posted by: Biff Champion at May 14, 2008 2:27 PM

Hey one more question Brooklynnative, where did you get those two concrete pillars?

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 2:27 PM

You are an ahole, Biff. I don't think anyone here appreciates your comments but Dave and vice versa.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 2:28 PM

We salvaged those from the original raised concrete bed.

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 2:29 PM

If Mr. B has no problem with the pitch for the apartment then I'm fine with it. But he has removed them in the past. And there is now a precedent set for more of that...which may be fine. Afterall, it is a real estate blog. I think he should actually set up an additional header for rentals and FSBOs and have suggested it before. I would bet he'd have to do another server upgrade in order to do so and it would be a fairly high cost center as opposed to a money making part of the site.

As far as Brooklynnative's actual garden photos I think it looks great and said that up above. I apologize to him that my comment about the ad led so many of you away from the garden subject but even more so I apologize to him for all of you others who made my comments to Brooklynnative your business and so rudely as well.

I comment on here because I enjoy it; not because I need it. But, the stuff I see spewed back is certainly characteristic of people with some very deep seated anger and personality problems.

Again, brooklynnative, sorry for off topic and sorry for all the comments you'll have to wade through after I post this.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 2:32 PM

dave and biff:

have you two noticed that your old pal jerri even seems to have stopped posting because i'm guessing even he/she was sick of you two. or maybe he realized that he was aiding the stupid, useless bantor clogging up this website? to be honest, i thought he was funnier than the two of you combined and even he seemed to realize when enough was enough. you two should take a hint.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 2:32 PM

2:26, then leave! Buh bye.

2:28, refer to my comment to 2:26. Buy bye.

Y'all keep responding to me. I LOVE the attention! LOVE it!

Posted by: Biff Champion at May 14, 2008 2:32 PM

No problem Dave. Can we all give the ad hominem attacks a rest at this point?

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 2:37 PM

2:32 guest, you mean "banter". Jerri is still going strong and posting. So you're wrong. Please don't distract from the topic.

Dave, no need to apologize for the rude guest comments. They should be truly ashamed of their behavior.

Posted by: Biff Champion at May 14, 2008 2:37 PM

i despise you biff. i'm tellin your wife.

Posted by: Biff Champion at May 14, 2008 2:44 PM

we all know you aren't gay, biff.

you are a liar and a cheat.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 2:46 PM

2:46, now that's not very nice. Careful or you might hurt my feelings!

Posted by: Biff Champion at May 14, 2008 2:49 PM

Am I missing something, or is brooklynnative asking and answering his own questions?

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 2:54 PM

might not be very nice, but it's the truth.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 2:55 PM

2:54, you're correct. It's because certain hateful guests have hijacked this thread and continue to be off-topic so Brooklynnative is doing his best to steer the conversation back to his beautiful garden.

2:55, you're as wrong as all the others.

Posted by: Biff Champion at May 14, 2008 2:59 PM

count up how many of your posts on this thread have been about the garden, biff. and then count how many have not been.

i guarantee you the latter is a higher number.

including 2:59, 2:49, 2:44, 2:37, 2:32, 2:27, 2:25 and 2:11.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 3:02 PM

Here's a little tip for you, Biff...

Faded does not equal wrong, and not faded does not equal correct.

Are you really THAT immature???

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 3:04 PM

You're riling them up Biff. They're even going back and counting the posts!!!!

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 3:06 PM

3:02, no thanks. I would rather have you do that for me.

3:04, using three question marks to prove a point is really THAT immature.

Faded typers, I love the attention but really wish you could stay on topic.

we are long past that issue 3:10..Please try and keep up!

Anything to add about the garden?

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 3:16 PM

Brooklynnative,

What pillars did you salvage? Which picture are they in?

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 3:17 PM

3:14, it's "playing". not "playin".

Thanks for playing.

While I'm not married, I'm really curious to know what you would tell "my wife". That I'm really popular on Brownstoner?

Posted by: Biff Champion at May 14, 2008 3:18 PM

here's a new issue...

i met your lover at woody's two weeks ago, dave. let's just say...you guys have an "interesting" relationship.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 3:18 PM

We've all moved past that whole issue 3:15. You're a few hours too late and missed a lot of the discussion it seems. If you're going to quote, quote in its entirety otherwise its out of context...you forgot the part about them all being "so rudely as well"

Any comments on the garden???

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 3:21 PM

Dave, 3:14/3:18 seems to know so much about us. What an amazing and sane person! He knows my "wife" and your "lover". I bet he's buddies with the Pope and used to sleep with Jennifer Connelly too.

Posted by: Biff Champion at May 14, 2008 3:25 PM

Biff and Dave...thank you for ruining, what was the best garden posting sent in to date.

I hope you're both happy.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 3:32 PM

3:18..glad to hear it. you go there often or only when you're on assignment!!! did he give you his real name???!!!! get a number??

Brooklynnative and I agrred to stop the ad hominem comment here. Without the facts I can't tell what your point is

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 3:33 PM

3:32 Biff cam along late in case you didn't really pay attention. I ruined it by calling the OP on the for rent ad which we agreed not to discuss anymore. You guys got to keep up.

Besides, the garden posting itself has not been ruined. Its not like your child came along and spray painted it

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 3:35 PM

3:32, nothing is ruined. Ok, I sense I need to do some coddling here. Why don't you try to post a comment or question on the garden and, along with the other guests, attempt to cease attacking poor Dave and me?

Posted by: Biff Champion at May 14, 2008 3:42 PM

You both are like dumb and dumber.

You are the reason why people say the internet is ruining society.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 3:45 PM

The garden is very nice don't you think 3:45? But that was a truly intellectual and classic comment. Got to write that one down.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at May 14, 2008 3:47 PM

3:45, darn. I thought you might be the second guest to comment on the garden within the last 3 or so hours. I had such hope for you but you let me down...

Posted by: Biff Champion at May 14, 2008 3:49 PM

Dave and Biff - never have so few had so much to say about so little.

Posted by: Brooklynnative at May 14, 2008 4:10 PM

well that was pleasant.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 5:48 PM

Dave and Biff HATE nature, and gardens. They are evil.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 5:57 PM

Nicest garden since yesterday! ;-)

No, really. I know how much work it is to keep a garden like that looking nice. I thought my garden would look overgrown and weedy. Good work.

Posted by: Hal at May 14, 2008 8:43 PM

Wow, how old are you people? Complete waste of time today. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 10:44 PM

Jesus! Where have I been? No idea such drama was occurring on an innocent garden posting. And looks like I was drug into the dirt too!

Not sure how it is we simply clog all of this up with drivel, but, okay. People are entitled to their opinions. I still think it has to do with signing in or not. We become giant bullseyes with our dark type and odd looking names.

Anyway, was going to say this garden was lovely. Also, thought that Brooklynnative's use of asking and answering his own postings mid thread was laugh out loud funny.

Dave, Biff, you guys okay? Took a beating here. I don't get it, I have to say.

What a lovely garden! What kind of moss do you have growing? Where did you buy the majority of these plants? Were they seedlings or did you grow from seeds? Tell us about your process and how you made these creative decisions. Also interested in round about estimates of how much setting up this lovely sanctuary cost? Thanks in advance.

We've gotten a lot of plants over the years at Chelsea Gardens (Manhattan and Red Hook), the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, White Flower Farm (mail order) and the Green Market. I really have no idea how much we put in over the years but every year it's less and we're still spending a few hundred come the spring. My wife is the creative one, grew up in England so she has gardening in the blood. I don't recall the type of moss but I saw a lot of great moss the last time we were in Chlsea Gardens in Red Hook. Cheers.

This is a gorgeous garden. It has offered me extreme pleasure and serentity, I live next door and have literally seen this garden grow. I shamelessly reap the benefits of the hours and hours of hard work and dedication that go into this beauty. Weekend after weekend, morning and night the garden is lovingly tended allowing it to reflect the changing seasons. The pictures chosen do not begin to highlight the bounty of vegetables and fragrance of the flowers at mid-summer. If the local wildlife, squirells, robins, cardinals, bluejays and occssional hummingbird could blog, they would sing its praises with gratitude for creating an absolutely enchanting and abundant enviornment. An enviorment, that I truly appreciate because it removes me from the reality of the amount of assholes and jerks, like the ones who post on this blog, and have moved into our neighborhoods. I am also leaving the neighborhood, and glad of it despite the natural beauty I am graced to live amidst in Park Slope.
