Development Watch: 904 Pacific Street

Another piece of the puzzle in Eli Karp's plan to take over the world (or at least the borderland between Prospect and Crown Heights) is not far from completion. The third installment of the Hello Living complex, 904 Pacific Street (aka Dakota) will have 21 glassy units when all is said and done, which may be later than the developer hoped given the Stop Work Order currently in place for inadequate safety measures relating to the scaffolding. How do you think the Dakota looks compared to the original Madison?

The DOB inspectors are terrified of losing their jobs. They will shut you down if you sneeze wrong!

I wish they would let them finish. I want to go swimming/hang out in the sauna. :(

Are people involved with this development worried at all about the city's plan to dramatically increase the size of the homeless shelter a few blocks away at the Bedford Armory? Do people think a factor like this will influence sales?

Guess that's dependant on your definition of a few blocks. Goggle maps shows it 3/4 of a mile away. Under that standard half the city is close to a homeless shelter...

Eli karp and his band of Pheonix Investors are a sore spot for Brooklyn. While buying and building in Brooklyn is commendable...It is with slave wages that he is able to complete these projects with ease and with a significant profit. I KNOW ! I am his construction manager.

While he claims to employ from the neigborhood, it is his "take it or leave it" arrogance that annoys me.

Eli Karp is greedy, greedy, greedy...and will stop at nothing to see his return on investment. His 25 year tax abatement has allowed for full gentrification in this neighborhood. But dont be fooled...There are many condos that have gone unsold and will remain that way. Just ask HUBNER and AQUAYO. I will keep you posted !
