What to make of it? Well, let me hazard a wild guess. Disgruntled buyer pissed-off (probably justifiably) with a crappy building?

Maybe they built that bird house?

Think I saw that birdhouse at the new Root Stock & Quaid on Myrtle.
Corcoran seems to show most stuff is sold at Simone.

Poltergeist infestations not covered by 1 year builders guarantee? Should have read the fine print!

I think the bird house roof is leaking

Sloppy porch...hey clean it up.
Posted by: guest at May 14, 2008 5:09 PM
Hey, condo buyer clean up your mess

I love the siding on the bird house

My hand writing analysis of the sign indicates that the owner has more than 7 cats.

I'm sure they made you an offer you couldn't refuse!

If the owner in fact has many cats, I fear for the safety of the birds living in the birdhouse. Someone should call the ASPCA.

This is very surprising to me. I also know them to be reputable and honest. When we had an issue, we brought it to there attention and they corrected it swiftly with no questions asked.

I think I smell a condo board lawsuit against the sponsor (Basile) in the works.
Would not have been the first time I have heard of post-Basile heartache.
Kind of like post-Katan upset stomach, but without all the loose bowl issues.

The sign is down! I guess they must have kissed and made up.

Rocco reads Brownstoner!

Kissed and made up...they sleep with the fishes.

As a home owner at the Simone, I was very disappointed to see that one of my neighbors would post such a sign. New construction is bound to have some kinks. Rocco Basile and his company have thus far come to the table and are working with owners and the condo board to resolve any outstanding issues. This particular owner speaks for herself, not the owners of the building. She may be disgruntled but it is NOT a crappy building. I am very happy with my home and my investment and glad to be a part of the neighborhood. -Dahlia Ward, Home owner and board member at the Simone.

Bravo Dahlia!
Props for voicing
But more props for actually putting your name up!

Also you have to be really stupid to bash your own building because the only people you are hurting is yourself, your neighbors and your property value.

Looking at some of the buildings on the Basile builders site, I have to say that while some of them are unattractive, many of them don't look as ugly as they could be. There are so many cheap ugly buildings going up these days, at least Basile is building some more interesting looking buildings. As to whether or not they suck on the inside, though....

It seems to me as if most of the commenters on this blog in favor of the developer are the builder's people. If you look for their website, it is under construction so how did the last commenter look at their buildings to determine that they look better than others going up. It is also obvious because who would be posting Rocco Basile's blog on this site and giving the same spin about the family business that you find all over the internet. I question why Rocco Basile needs to hire a PR firm to flood the search engines with positive information about himself.

I hear that this frustrated buyer with with the sign on the balcony was fed up with this company not taking of her problems so put the sign up and then took it down when they took care of everything. Quite effective in my opinion. Sometimes you have to do what you need to do.

Oy gevalt!

Oh morone!

I am sorry, I don't think that they know the meaning of the word swiftly....

I am sorry, I don't think that they even know what the word swiftly means.

one of my clients is closing on a basile condo and although there has been much back and forth on this site... no one has yet to explain WHAT the issues were. for the most part, all i've seen is a suspicious amount of defenders of the buider and some funny birdhouse comments. I for one would be very interested in learning what the problems were (for my client's sake) even if they were eventually resolved. fixing a problem doesn't mean there wasn't a problem, and my client has expresses some concern over the builder's credibility and how they respond to unsatisfactory building practices.

Kudos for taking it to the builder but the sign might as well say "Don't ever buy my condo" - good luck unloading that one
