I like the "green revival" this is something new for the Heights.
Maybe the "green' is just money.
nothing new there.
Greek revival + solar panels = green revival?

usually LOVE the BH tour, but this year looks a little weak

If you look at the picture on the BHA website of the "greek revival" you'll see there's nothing green about it at all - what in god's name is all that pink??

Not being a smartass here but...
$30 tour fee? Where does the money go? I understand a fee. I'm a businessman. I don't expect it to be free but...
Anyone care to fill me/us in?

The house Tour is the Brooklyn Heights Association's largest fundraiser.
Beyond being a fundraiser, I expect there are indeed some costs with running the tour (not that the fee doesn't cover the costs and then some):
-- printed brochures
-- serious insurance in case any of the houses suffer damage of some sort
-- Carpet and floor cleaning for all the houses after the tour concludes.

all house tours are fundraisers. I think you can even deduct it from your taxes if you want.
and it's also clearly what the market will bear -- the BH tour is WELL attended (you'll curse when you see the lines)

The photo of the Bossert lobby is spectacular. Nothing quite says la-tee-dah like rows of giant marble columns and gilded ceilings. Very gorgeous.

1:47, I agree with you. If you swing by, even not as part of the House Tour, the doorman/concierge/guard dude will likely let you look around a bit. I first did it when I moved to the area and they were very nice inside.

yes, deduct the fee from your taxable income.

The BHA makes the real money from the brunch before hand. Pricey but nice.
You were not sent an invitation this year?

The $30 for this tour used to seen very expensive, but it hasn't gone up for years, while most other tours have increased to $25 for tickets bought on the day of the tour. Unlike most neighborhood groups that run tours. the BHA has an office and staff, so their operating expenses must be quite high.

the BHA has donated office space at 55 Pierrepont, and I think they pay for one p/t employee and all the other positions are voluntary
