A Look at Yesterday's Flea

It's a holiday here at Brownstoner World Headquarters. In the meantime, here are some photos from yesterday's Flea, without question the best yet! Don't forget to upload your photos to Flickr and tag them with "brooklynflea."

I wasn't sure the flea was evening happening yesterday. When I stopped by at around 2:00 about half the vendors had already left and no one was around. What gives?

Upload your photos? Why would we be taking pictures of a flea market? What am I missing here?

I don't know what flea market you were looking at, but I was there at 2:30-4 and it was quite full and lively. I guess that is bad news for all the people who for some reason really want this to fail...

A RAVE REVIEW:

To -everyone- who has been bashing the Flea week after week after week. No one takes your posts seriously.

No, it didn't shut down. No, 1/2 the vendors hadn't left by 2. What will you say next? That it was rained out? Because there was no rain either.

It was the best Flea yet. It had the best and most vendors. The quality had improved 10 fold since the 1st Flea. The food was -excellent-.

I was there from 10-3. It was PACKED.

I spent 200 bucks.

For everyone bashing the Flea, you are -discredited- and -ignored-.

Man there are a lot of negative people on this blog. I went to the flea at about 2PM and it was the most crowded I had ever seen it- this was my 3rd trip. Very nice vibe! The food was great, very long lines (another sign of success). I had the best corn on the cob EVER.

Now, the actual merchandise is another story.
Way overpriced. I wonder if Brownstoner will let me set-up a booth, so I can sell some overpriced stuff from Ebay.

11:49

I found the merch to be a mixed bag:

1. Craft vendors selling generally over priced "crafts".

2. Vendors selling stuff at a mixed price range, some cheap some expensive.

3. Antiques and collectibles selling a top dollar.

4. A few, just a few vendors selling at cheap, junk market prices.

I was there at 1:30 yesterday afternoon and there were about 40 people in line for the pupusas. I agree with 11:49 - it was the most crowded - with both vendors and customers - that I've seen the Flea.

That said, a lot of the merchants seem to sell the same thing, I would like to see about a 40/40/20 mix of "crafts", curated junk (not just random crap), and food.

I was there at around 1 and it was packed. And I agree that it was by far the best mix of vendors. My favorite was the old guy near the baseball backstop.

Also, given the photos that accompany the post, it's hard to see how this troll can make his negative comments with a straight face. What a looza!

nice flea this week.

This was my second flea, and I thought it was great. I went the first day it was open and didn't stay long because it was so crowded. This week, the crowd was managable and I saw some cool stuff, had a good bite to eat and got a deal. The flea is a real boon to the neighborhood.

Sadly, I won't ever be going back to this flea market - everything's so over-priced that you're better off just going to a regular store.

It's a shame, 'cos the location and idea has tons of potential, but unless it's re-branded as something a little more, um, 'truthful', I can't see it getting many repeat visitors.

4:23 - I've been 5 times and bought something every time.

i bought two older-edition rough guides for $3 apiece. quite a bargain to me...
