525 Clinton Avenue One Step Closer To Sales

525-Clinton-Avenue-0508.jpg
Pity the poor marketing people who have to come up with a new condo name at this point in the real estate cycle! The creative team behind 525 Clinton Avenue (the site of an unfortunate accident earlier this year) has decided on "The Collection" as a moniker for the 13-story glass development off Atlantic Avenue in Clinton Hill. The signage is up on the sidewalk scaffolding and a website has gone live. Right now it consists pretty much of a sales pitch on the high-tech insulated glass used on the building and a place to leave your name. We also noticed that the lowest price range one could express interest for is $600,000 to $750,000. Given that most floors are split up into just two or three units, we guess that's not too surprising.

Wouldn't want to get too far behind in my common charges at "the Collection." Yikes.

How about "The Borg Collective"? Their slogan: Your bank accounts will be absorbed. Your bathroom is newly tiled.

Funny, 10:45, I really like it.

My work internet filter blocks 525collection under "pornagraphy" HA! - not a smart filter at all.

I would bet a beer that this goes rental.

They have one of the most god-awful websites I've ever seen. Who designed this? It loads very slow, has lots of images of beads of water on glass, a few odd details of the building, then a scene of a subway stop focusing on a trash can. Yes, this definitely makes me want to buy a condo here.

Just noticed this is the same developer who built green house in ft greene. They did a great job at that project. I wonder what the interior will look like.

Posted by: guest at May 1, 2008 11:37 AM

website looks pretty cool to me. Better than the usual crap that's out there.

Posted by: guest at May 1, 2008 11:39 AM

Overpriced crap. Who would pay that much to live practically on Atlantic. And Fulton?? That corner is where someone was just shot in the middle of the day a month or so ago.

Heard "Green House" ain't sellin either.

and really, only one illegal died during construction so the karmic tradeoff is pretty good.

Posted by: guest at May 1, 2008 11:58 AM

it didn't get to the website, it loaded way too slow

Posted by: guest at May 1, 2008 12:00 PM

It's indistinguishable from the rest of the tall, box, glass towers. Yawn.

I agree. Relative (RRREEELLLAAATTTIIIVVVEEE) to comps and compared to Forte and Oro, these prices are reasonable. But of course, they are slowly dropping as we speak as they are tied to the slowly declining market at large. Can't ignore questionable location though. Is parking included (excuse my laziness)?

The Web site is a joke. Wonder if the high-tech windows protect you from stray bullets?

went to the high-tech window manufact web, seems pretty interesting:

Wow, an entire 4 family house a few doors down was for sale for $950 about three months back.
Try again >r. Developer.

just another ugly luxury condo to destroy the charachter of the neighborhood. shitty area too.

Posted by: guest at May 1, 2008 4:45 PM

anybody walking towards, next to and past the building would notice how wierd it looks in context & relation to its neighbors.

its like offset like someone couldnt figure out how to put the square peg in the square hole

I don’t really understand what’s wrong with the pitch (I mean.. ok… relative to how ridiculous and retarded most of these condos are getting with the dumb shit they advertise).

I’m worn out with all the condescending/ lowest common denominator marketing that assumes we are all youthful retards who have no idea it’s possible to stick a fancy appliance in a cheap kitchen and keep your budget about the same.

So… I’m just saying… windows that don’t leak and have drafts and thought and care in thinking about temperature control… just saying those are big number/ big budget items that really do improve the quality of life in your home.

I think what I’m saying is better said by way of contrast… so in contrast… Beacon Tower down in DUMBO. They made this big pitch about how they did this marvelous fancy thing and bought TRIPLE pane windows... dramatic reenactments included etc… But here’s the thing… they designed that building with PTAC units… which in addition to being merely the cheapest way possible to offer heating and cooling… they have a big huge freaking open vent to the outside right under the window! So I have to assume… they assumed that I was a moron who couldn’t possible understand even the most basic (like 5th grade math and science) understanding of structures.

Personally I wish they would have just ditched the models and had a contractor stand up there and tell you the information about the construction. But other then that… I’m just saying… spending money on quality building systems are real amenities to me… and (to me) more meaningful then “a subzero” stuck inside of cheap cabinets from china.
