StreetLevel: Blue Ribbon Nixes Slope's Late-Night Snacks

blue-ribbon-new-hours-04-2008.jpg
Sleepy old town, sleepy old town. A couple weeks ago, Blue Ribbon and Blue Ribbon Sushi put an end to the chainlet's signature late-night hours on 5th Avenue. Blue Ribbon, which stayed open until 2am Monday through Thursday and 4 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, is now only open until midnight Monday through Thursday and until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. A 5th Ave. manager we spoke to last night said wee-hours dining will continue at Blue Ribbon's Manhattan spots, and that the Slope restaurants are now open an hour earlier than they were before. "It's all about the neighborhood," she said. "Over here, it's just more family-oriented." GMAP

this might be good for sidecar, which isn't too far south on 5th ave - i think they're serving food until 2am at least.

So instead of profiling the many new shops and restaurants opening all over Brooklyn, it's now news that Blue Ribbon is closing two hours earlier on the weekend?

This post seems like you are just egging people on for a Park Slope bash session.

I love Blue Ribbon, but I find this thread useless. It's possibly worth a mention, but an entire Streelevel write-up??

You guys seem really hard up for news. Lots of recycled stuff lately. There is a lot more going on out here if you look...

This is why I just can't seem to make the move from Manhattan to Brooklyn... no matter how many times I try it. The lack of 24-hr, or even just late night, joints is too much to give up.

I would love to open a 24 hour cafe/restaurant somewhere in Park Slope.

Dear Gabby - Please read the signs. The April 1st (hmmm) sign says Blue Ribbon closes at midnight every night. The old sign doesn't say 2AM weeknight and 4AM weekends.

theres an all night "food area" at the back of a bodega at 7th ave and flatbush. They have a grill but I have no idea what its called. Also the keyfood on flatbush is 24/7.

I guess this helps because I live on flatbush ave.

3:17, it's Blue Ribbon Sushi, not Blue Ribbon, that's now only open until midnight. Both cut hours differently. Blue Ribbon cut a couple weeks ago & now Sushi on board with cuts too.

3:17,

It's you who needs to read. 3:22 is spot on.

There at least two 24 hour diners on the more southerly stretch of Fifth Avenue in Park Slope.

did someone really just recommend the back of the newsstand on 7th and Flatbush?

while i know 3/4 of the homeless guys who eat there, it doesn't necessarily mean i'd eat there.
