StreetLevel: Laundromat for Myrtle

KleenRLaundromat-0308.jpg
Most of the retail news along Myrtle Avenue over the past couple years has been strictly of the gentrifying sort: restaurants, wine shops, boutiques. Which is why we were a little surprised to see this decidedly un-upscale laundromat announcing its grand opening at the corner of Myrtle and Hall. Word is that the proprietors are the former owners of the Chinese restaurant that used to occupy the space. GMAP

collections?

I think my only problem with this place is that its coin operated. I used to live in park slope and their was a place called Kleen Machine and the machines were all operated by cards....a much better system. just a thought.

Coin Operated=More chance for underreporting cash revenues on income taxes.

Cards make it easier to audit, resulting in a higher tax liability.

When I own a laundromat, it's going to be coin-operated.

guest 4:13, do you need a patner?
lol

The only thing decidedly downscale about this place is the fact that it *is* a laundromat. But as laundromats go, this one looks nice on the inside. I mean, despite all the gentrification, the hood is full of Pratt students and plenty of folks who don't have washers, so why not?

It should, however, serve microbrews. ;)

I bet the people who rent the apts next to it are happy. Shorter walk to laundromat. It is a service and its good to have besides new restaurants and stores. Lets not forget that not all the renters are blessed with washer & dryer in the unit.

I dont see laundrymats as a sign of ungentrification. Its like saying pizza places are a sign of ungentrification.

catering to the gentrifiers.

Hey 4:28, I've already got a partner. But thanks.

Such a shame.
Should have been a bank.

We need more banks.
Not enough banks.

dont get your dirty panties all in a bunch.. laundrymats were around before "gentrifers"

Posted by: guest at March 4, 2008 9:42 PM

I heard that rich people never wash their clothes.
