StreetLevel: New Bars in the Works on Smith

jake-walk-03-2008.jpg
Two more bars are fixing to join Smith Street's pub crawl scene. The Jake Walk, above, on the corner of Sackett, is going to open within the next week. The bar is the brainchild of some of the people behind Smith & Vine and Stinky Brooklyn, according to an article in today's Sun, and it's directly across the street from another fairly recent addition to the strip, Bar Great Harry. Meanwhile, farther north, construction continues on the future Clover Club, right next door to Rocketship. The pic we snapped on the jump doesn't really do the place any justice (looks much better in the flesh). No word on when CC is scheduled to open. GMAP GMAP

Those hanging light fixtures look like they came out of a church.

I wonder how long before spinoffs of these bars open on 5th Avenue.

Isn't Jake Walk where Quench used to be? Quench always had a kinda creepy vibe.

Also, which of these will be stroller friendly? I demand more stroller friendly bars on Smith Street. And more toy stores selling $40 stuffed animals.

Smith Street needs a tattoo parlor bad.

You want stroller friendly, go to Tribeca.

Land of the strollers.

Makes Park Dope look like singleville.

Brooklyn Tattoo is nearby on Atlantic Avenue. But I suppose you weren't serious.

AND Brooklyn Tattoo is moving to a new location on Smith off Atlantic- bigger and better. In the same block as the new St Clair and across from whatever incarnation corner restaurant is at Smith and Pacific.

Can I be the first to say:

THANK FUCKING GOD QUENCH IS GONE?

There I said it.

does anyone have contact details for the old owner of Quench, Kathryn? Tim from Warren Place.

Quench was a smelly, dirty and loud hole. The Stinky people have stupid name ideas. I bet the french people cringe when they walk by that overpriced dump. And those Vassar girls who work there are just as snotty.

I walked by yesterday and the Jake Walk was having a private party. I snuck my head in and the place looks really nice.

Stupid name ideas? Ok, you don't like Stinky. Whats wrong with Smith and Vine. Pretty straightforward to me. The Jake Walk. Do you know what it means? That's a great name.

And French girls that "walk by". Huh?

Vassar girls? Where. Quench? Stinky? Wine shop?

Is English your 1st language?

"Is english your first language?"
HILARIOUS!!!!

I don't find anyone at Smith & Vine or Stinky to be snotty at all.
Quench on the ohter hand, I'm glad that place is gone!
Looking forward to The Jake Walk - hopefully they will have a better menu than Black Mountain.
