Sarah Ryley Joins Brownstoner Squad
Some of you may have noticed a new byline appearing on the site this week. We're very pleased to announce that Sarah Ryley, who's written about real estate and development for the Brooklyn Eagle for the past two years, has joined the editorial team at Brownstoner. Sarah, who's also written for The Real Deal, The Detroit News and The Oakland Press, will primarily be covering development activity in Brooklyn Heights, Dumbo, Downtown Brooklyn, Fort Greene and the Navy Yard area. A resident of Prospect Lefferts Gardens, she will also be helping to boost our coverage across the park. Welcome, Sarah!

I know alot doesn't go on in terms of development but maybe once in awhile the architecture in southern Crown Heights can be mentioned...
Good luck Sarah

Anyone who would like to see more coverage of his neighborhood is encouraged to send in tips and photos!

Boost your coverage across the park? Do you ever cover anything else?

I haven't read a single article in the Brooklyn Eagle that at all indicates their writers are knowledgeable of economics, let alone the realities of real estate development and population demographics in Brooklyn.
I do hope this writer takes a critical stance in regards to the housing crisis, and doesn't merely parrot the reactionary NIMBY folk who dominate the various community boards.
That said, I do look forward to more coverage of the less popularly desirable neighborhoods.

One downside to Sarah's move: Dennis Holt is writing "news" again at the Eagle, not just his opinion column, and the truth is a victim.

Ms. Ryley's RE articles in the Eagle have always been a cut above the typical puff pieces. IMO she is a very welcome adition to this site.
[AND Sarah's being a neighbor in PLG doesn't hurt either]

Since she's written about Oakland and Detroit, surely she's ready to do Crown Heights. lol

Thanks, Bob, now you should call me more often! And yes, compared to the D, Crown Heights is Beverly Hills, and it's only a short walk away. Oakland, on the other hand, refers to Oakland County in Metro Detroit (more comparable to Westchester) not Oakland, California. But I did live in Venice Beach, Los Angeles for a few years. Brooklyn is by far superior.

This site is gaining editorial strength, impressive. I second the idea that an economic perspective would be valuable, perhaps picking up some postings from Calculated Risk or something like it.
Congratulations to Sarah from a fellow PLG'er

Sarah, beware Brownstoner is declining.
