studio for 1700. doesn't everyone make fun of someone for saying he rents studios in park slope for that much?

and i'd much rather live in prime north slope than at summitt and columbia.

Listing #2, 3-br w/ 2 full baths, h/w floors. $3,099, Nevins at Sackett is hardly in Carroll Gardens. Its smack in the hard of Gowanus (on the 3rd Ave side of the canal).

The pricing seems a bit rich for that area, even for a 3br.

This looks like a big, rotten easter egg to me!

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 11:27 AM

Guess what - no one gives a shit that you'd rather be in the slope. there are people out there - believe it or not - who'd rather be in CG and will pay more to be in CG - although actually that location is border red hook and has a different feel (again one that many people prefer to park slope OR CG).

By the way, I wouldn't really call Nevins and Sackett Carroll Gardens since it's across the canal - it's kind of a no man's land - aka "gowanus."

So sick of these Park slope people . I would rather live in one of these Carroll gardens rentals much closer to manhattan and i feel like this is a tiny village in europe. What many forget is Carroll Gardens and cobble hill are very tiny in size. So they are treasured.

"What many forget is Carroll Gardens and cobble hill are very tiny in size. So they are treasured."

How can we forget it...You mention it every other day!!?

Last time I was in Europe, there weren't a bunch of goombah's running around whistling at every chick walking by like they do in CG.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 11:44 AM

"So sick of these Park slope people . I would rather live in one of these Carroll gardens rentals much closer to manhattan"

so it's ok to tout cg, but not ps?

um, ok.

"there are people out there - believe it or not - who'd rather be in CG and will pay more to be in CG"

Average sales AND rental prices are higher in Park Slope so actually you are wrong.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 11:46 AM

Yea but you keep forgeting about all the french and the other Europeans moving to Carroll Gardens. Go to Carroll Park and many languages are spoken. How about Park slope? i dont think so but let me tell you what you get there around the time schools leting out. (A lot of Problems). Where do those problems come from??????????? Hmmmmmmmmmm

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 11:48 AM

You are bragging about 5 french people moving to Carroll Gardens?

Wow, you are desperate.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 11:52 AM

i looked at a 2bed 2bath place on the other side of the bqe at batlic and hicks for 1800. It was nice but the area is kinda out there from the F train.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 11:52 AM

Smith Street is a joke.

In the past year, 5th has FAR outpaced Smith in terms of new and interesting retail and restaurants.

Last week, I counted 11 abandonded storefronts on Smith in as many blocks. Has ANYTHING opened there this past year?

Something is opening on 5th at LEAST once a week.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 11:54 AM

there are way cheaper rentals in prime park slope.

carroll gardens is alittle steep.

either way both hoods are pretty much the same place.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 11:55 AM

"there are way cheaper rentals in prime park slope."

Where? I've been looking and haven't found anything unless it's below 12th street...

I'd love to know. Lots of us artists and creative people prefer Park Slope because the cheaper rents you speak of. I just haven't found any yet.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 11:58 AM

that one pic is terrible. Can't they tidy up or keep a generic picture of the place before tenants move in.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 11:58 AM

A building is collapsing as we speak on Smith Street.

LOL.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 11:59 AM

Yes, these are cheaper than buying an equivalent space and carrying a mortgage plus maintenance, but what a bunch of depressing dumps!

Listings like these are the prime argument for buying vs. renting.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 12:03 PM

Is Brownstoner in decline or something? Why on earth is there a feature about a rental property, for God's sake? A *rental*! I thought this was a serious blog.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 12:06 PM

I knew the neighborhood border police would chome in...and at least Brownstoner premised with "in or very near Carroll Gardens".
And could all the college sophomores please cease from 'my neighborhood is better than yours' game - really gets so whiney and so childish.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 12:16 PM

Are these rentals in CG or in the Gowanus Houses?

My god. You people pay money for this crap?

You'd have to pay ME to live in any one of these.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 12:18 PM

Is this topic about Carroll Gardens vs. Park Slope, or about the rentals of the week? In my opion there are some nice apts, the one on Nelson St. looks sweet.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 12:25 PM

Splitting hairs about CG or PS is cute, but no one that lives on the F train can brag about being "much closer" to Manhattan.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 12:28 PM

11:58..

i guess by "prime" I mean 4th/5th ave between union and atlantic center.

12th st around 5th ave would be a fine place to live as well.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 12:31 PM

Isn't a lot of prime Park Slope super close to the 2/3 at Bergen or Grand Army Plaza or the Q train at 7th Avenue anyway? Or if you're near 5th, all those trains at Atlantic/Pacific?

Any of those will get you to Manhattan much faster than the F. Especially when they start rebuilding Smith/9th this year.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 12:32 PM

12:18 you are a moron.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 12:32 PM

12:06 is either joking or deranged. I support this Rentals of the Week feature. Keep it up Brownstoner.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 12:34 PM

12:31. I don't consider that prime.

I consider prime from Flatbush to Carroll and 5th to the Prospect Park.

I'd prefer to be as close to the park as possible actually. It's my favorite part of Park Slope.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 12:34 PM

Totally with 12:34. The limping F train vs. a handful of stop on the Q from 42nd to the North Slope? No contest.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 12:37 PM

The Q Train is 4 stops from Park Slope to Union Square and 6 stops to 42nd.

Half hour to midtown, door to door.

Best train in the city with a gorgeous view via Manhattan Bridge on the way to work.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 12:46 PM

When you can fit on the Q it's great.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 1:17 PM

Never not gotten a seat on the Q ever, I don't think.

But I work in the arts and have a later start to the day than most.

Is it bad in the early mornings?

Even on my way home around 6 I always get a seat at 42nd.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 1:19 PM

Another thread Slopejacked.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 1:20 PM

listen...if you people from carroll gardens have things you want to add about these dumpy rentals, who's stopping you?

are you that weak that you'll let the slopers overtake you? maybe that's why people prefer it. you caroll gardens people are so passive and weak.

start talking about these gorgeous rentals then if you're sick of the slopers.

jeez. carroll gardens seems like a neighborhood filled with sissy bottoms.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 1:22 PM

Its because of people like 1:22, that everyone picks on Park Slope. Your the type of person that thinks their sh*t don't stink. Get real and get over yourself. Your not god's gift to mankind because you live in Park Slope. So stop this neighborhood bickering. Both of these neighborhoods have desirable qualities and shortcomings.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 1:31 PM

i don't live in park slope 1:31.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 1:34 PM

my family is being evicted from a rental for the second time in three years because the homeowner is cashing out and selling the building. We'd happily live in any area: Cobble, Carroll or Park Slope (5th ave.) at this point (post if you know of a larger 2/3 br rental than what is depicted here for a move in date of anytime from now until July.) Thx!

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 1:42 PM

So 1:34, what is your alterative motive for riling up Carroll Garden residents to fight back against Park Slopers? Was there an incident in your life that a Carroll Gardens resident has betrayed you or angered you in some way? If so, I apologize and I sincerely hope you have find it in your heart to not hold this grudge forever.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 1:47 PM

Photos dammit! At least floor plans.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 2:10 PM

If you have to get to work at 9, the Q can get pretty packed. Nice and fast though, that's true.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 2:11 PM

i like it packed. lots of cute guys on the q to oggle.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 2:18 PM

"Photos dammit! At least floor plans."

hello? do you not see photos up there?
open your eyes.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 2:22 PM

wow, why do people post such obnoxious comments? what's with all the hostility and rivalry between PS and CG? grow up.
anyway, to the people annoyed by the coverage of rental properties...uh, lots of people rent for many reasons, it doesn't mean they're not interested in neighborhoods and history and architecture, or are any less "serious." also, as a homeowner in CG with a rental unit that helps pay my mortgage I find it very interesting to see what other properties are going for in the neighborhood.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 2:32 PM

Please list the ten closed store fronts on Smith Street. Do you really have to lie to try to put down Carroll Gardens. Can't all this stupid rivalry just end.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 2:52 PM

I live on the other side of the BQE and love it over here. In fact, much prefer it to Carroll Gardens or North Slope and there always will be people who prefer it here.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 2:55 PM

you want the storefronts listed but you want the rivalry all to end.

could you be any more of a hypocrite?

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 2:56 PM

If I were to have said something mean about Park Slope, then it would have been hypocritical. Do you understand the difference?

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 3:06 PM

I don't see any storefront closed on Smith. The only stores closed are those being fixed or not being rented maybe used as rentals. But the food on smith is much better than 5th ave. PO, and Grocery are wonderful. I can not think of great when i think of 5th ave. Plus i like the people on smith much better. All you get on 5th is low life looking people that look as if they have not showered in a month.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 3:54 PM

FACE IT ALL OF BROOKLYN SUCKS

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 4:00 PM

Po and Grocery? Are you serious? Mario Batali pulled out of Po becuase it sucked so hard.

Blue Ribbon and Blue Ribbon Sushi, not to mention Al di La are far superior to either of those.

There are also about 100 restaurants on 5th to choose from vs. 20 on Smith.

If you don't see empty storefronts, you are not opening your eyes.

Nearly every business on Smith has opened a 2nd on 5th in the past 2 years. I'd say that says 5th is where the money is...showers or no showers.

I happen to think the scruffy, dirty ones are hot myself.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 4:31 PM

Al Di La is rated the 4th best restaurant in the city. None of the top 10 are on Smith.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 4:32 PM

I went to Al di la and let me tell you this. Maybe it is good to all of you folks from Ohio. But to Those from NYC who like our food to taste like it is from Authentic Europe no way. I would take Vinny's on smith street over AL Di LA and PO is better also.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 4:39 PM

Bococa has Lucali and Boca Lupa . Park slope PIZZA SUX. Boca Lupa is very good.Lucali is excellent. Park slope is so insecure.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 4:41 PM

the folks in the valley will always bitch about the folks on top of the hill.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 4:43 PM

"I went to Al di la and let me tell you this. Maybe it is good to all of you folks from Ohio. But to Those from NYC who like our food to taste like it is from Authentic Europe no way. I would take Vinny's on smith street over AL Di LA and PO is better also."

Take it up with Zagat then.

None of the places you mention are anywhere near as good as Al Di La.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 4:53 PM

well there not as good because u r from North dakota and you like Papa Johns right?

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 5:15 PM

There are no Michelin starred restaurants in Park Slope -- there is on Smith: Saul. end of story.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 5:16 PM

All of you Brooklynites are crybaby assho;les that compare your genitalia for no other reason than to differentiate yourselves. Well news for you losers, you are all inadequate and worse, exactly the SAME person.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 5:48 PM

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 5:48 PM

The attitude Park Slopers have with regards to other Brooklyn neighborhoods is the same one Manhattanites have towards Brooklyn as a whole.

Annoying huh?

I've also found Park Slopers, when asked by someone where they live, they will always say "Park Slope" rather than saying "Brooklyn" like I find most other Brooklynites do.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 5:54 PM

If you wanna take it up with Zagat, then okay. Lucali gets a 27 and so does Saul, while Al Di La, which is the highest Zagat rated restaurant in Park Slope gets a 26. You might also be interested to know that Grocery gets a 26 as well. Po gets a 25 and so does Ki Sushi. Frankie's gets a 24 and and so does Petit Crevette and the list goes on and on.

Maybe Park Slope should have one large helping humble pie.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 6:42 PM

Looks like Park Slope just got knocked down a few notches.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 6:49 PM

Ouch!

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 6:55 PM

Hi, Hi, I just have to laugh at that one. What a set up.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 7:03 PM

Where are all the bitter renters complaining about the prices for this sh!t? Are you all just a bunch or turdholes who talk about restaurants? Losers.

Posted by: guest at March 20, 2008 7:52 PM

LOL!!! South Brooklyn dominates once again.

Posted by: guest at March 21, 2008 9:07 AM

As a proud mother of 4 who relocated to Park Slope from the suburbs I can proudly say Park Slope is THE best because it's doorways are wide enough and sidewalks safe enough for my double-wide strollers. And everywhere else people get all 'nasty' when I take a relaxing 35 minutes in line to order my cappachino and breakfast for the kids in the morning. God bless Park Slope and our troops!

I thought this was a serious blog.

Keep reading and you will find out it is not.
It is a blog for whiners whose hobby is putting everything down.

Posted by: guest at March 21, 2008 1:40 PM

Way to put down the put-downers!

Way to whine about the whiners!

Posted by: guest at March 21, 2008 6:17 PM

There is no war between PS and CG.

However there is one or two bored Italian housewives from Carroll Gardens (who express themselves badly and can't spell) who have recently discovered Brownstoner, and often show up ranting against every other neighborhood in Brooklyn in their efforts to promote CG. It's gross.

Posted by: guest at March 21, 2008 8:06 PM

And you surmise that they are Italian because of their grammar and spelling?

WOW!! Listen to yourself - so it's clear that you choose not to live in CG because of this Italian phobia. Were you beat up by someone that you perceived to be Italian in your NJ suburb? Or maybe that were Czech - same thing - right?

Posted by: guest at March 22, 2008 9:56 AM

It is a blog for whiners whose hobby is putting everything down.

The last 3 entries speak for tem selves.
Sorry for pointing out the obvious.
