Development Watch: 235/277 Gold Street

235-gold-rendering-0308.jpg
277-Gold-Street-030308.jpgThe new building plans have yet to be approved at 277 Gold Street, but the crew is busy doing shoring work on the Tillary side of the site. Unlike the most common tear-em-down approach to development, the developer is saving and converting two existing warehouses and adding a third new building. An early rendering of the project showed a 25-story new tower, the most current application calls for only a 133-unit, 13-story building. This will be an interesting one to watch.
Update: Thanks to a reader's comment, we've added an up-to-date rendering of the project taken from Winick Realty. Not a small project!

The links are not working. Which warehouses are being added into the plans? I have some stuff in storage over there!

Thanks. They should be working now.

Here are some pretty detailed renderings from the Winick Realty site (they are handling the retail piece).

Nice catch, 1:47. The "Neighbors" section is pretty funny. I guess that "McDonalds drive-thru, Exit from BQE, Homeless drop-in center" just didn't have the same catchet.

@2:02

...don't forget the fire station! LOUD sirens at ALL times of night!

And somehow they managed to get the one angle where you don't notice the BQE on two sides of this building.

Amazing how much better of a location the housing projects, just a stone's throw away, are.

Sorry, 2:25, I grew up one block away from a firehouse. I'm pretty desensitised to that -- 2:02

and here is the 2008 winick brochure for the dead 162 myrtle project, which was being worked on last week for some mysterious reason.
