Closing Bell: Bed-Stuy Bags Fresh Direct

The big news in Bed-Stuy is that Fresh Direct is finally delivering groceries to the neighborhood. Good news for an area widely believed to lack decent fresh produce options. The Fresh Direct expansion isn't limited to Bedford-Stuyvesant, according to the company: It now services all of 11206, 11216, 11213, 11225, and 11231, which includes additional parts of Red Hook.

Why wouldn't they deliver to Bed-Stuy before? Lack of customers or what?

nice.

Redlining plain and simple.

4:57: Get a life.

Nothing's stopping anyone from signing in 4:57. I use my real name, mainly because I didn't know any better when I first started posting, but almost everyone uses a pseudonym. You don't even have to fill in any information on your profile.
Signing in with a consistant handle makes it possible to keep track of posts. Sorting out scores of "guests" is hard with gray OR dark type.

according to their website they do not deliver to any of 11216 nor 11213. They deliver to parts of 11225 and 11231

I got an email from them the other day saying they had "arrived". When I typed my zip code in, (11216) I also got a "not available".
Eh, who needs 'em.

Nothing is stopping them, and yet the vast majority of people don't do it. And why should they? It just adds additional keystrokes.

It's worth pointing out that some of us are rather challenged when it comes to vision. It's just plain harder for me to see the light text, and I doubt I'm the only one.

that is great that they deliver to bedstuy, but those of us in sunset park are still out for the count. they deliver to bay ridge, and to park slope, but just skip right over sunset park.

They have delivered to 11225 for a long while now. It's not recent.
Posted by: guest at March 26, 2008 6:42 PM
What the hell were the 4:59 and 5:33 posts about?
Posted by: Brooklynnative at March 26, 2008 7:03 PM
According to the website, they DO NOT deliver to 11216! I got the email, though. Screw 'em!

7:03 i was wondering the same exact thing. guess big bro deleted it.

Fresh Direct delivers to the 11215 section of Sunset Park (the northern end).
Agree that the gray font is a drag. Mr. B, I second that notion to lose the lightened look.
Whos cares anyway? For all we know Bob Marvin or Polemicist or Montrose Morris or Mrs. Limestone could be The What.

I agree. It'd be nice to have regular looking text again.
What do you say, Mr. B?
Posted by: guest at March 26, 2008 9:51 PM
I just checked my zip, 11221, and no delivery.

Oh man, I would love a return to the darker text of yore. It's so much easier to read. Seriously, I can only spend so much time reading this faint text and twiddling with the contrast on my monitor doesn't help much. It's just not very comfortable on the eyes.

you seriously need to get to an opthalmologist.

People learn how to use your browser. You can adjust text size and color.

Adjusting the browser is at best a stop gap measure that shouldn't be necessary. I mean, the last time I checked the point of a website was to be read, no? If you want everything on here to be a big secret, then I suggest white text against a white background.

most people, having eyes, don't have a problem. Its you who seems to have a probelm. see your doc.

He's not the only one. I would certainly prefer darker (i.e., normal) type.

What about Kensington? For some reason us on Avenue C aren't worthy, even though our co-op full of potential customers has asked for service.
