Brooklyn the Brand: Domino's Rolls Out 1-877-UNACCENT

I live in Cobble Hill and the last time I tried to order a pizza from Domino's the call was connected to the Phillipines. The call was to the regular 718 number and, mind you, the local Domino's store is two blocks away on Smith & Bergen. Yet, in an outsourcing deal, the call was routed 8,600 miles (distance determined by Google maps).

Yet, they still couldn't get the order correct. The Phillipines order taker also claimed the credit card wouldn't go through, which I realized in hindsight was a credit to Amex's fraud department that blocked an overseas order for pizza. I cancelled the order and ordered from Caruso's on Smith St., which was very tasty and has now become our official pizza takeout. If only we could get used to that thick Italian accent :).

Well, they need a gimmick 'cause their food is really just about the most disgusting, foul, unhealthy and bad-tasting product that money could ever buy.

and it might even be a funny gimmick if the pizza didn't taste like the toppings and sauce were sucked out of the gowanus...

Anyone who would eat Domino's pizza - unless under severe threat of imminent starvation - truly deserves all that he/she has coming to them.

You need to get over yourselves. Sure the pizza is crap/it is a soul-sucking national chain/it represents the worst of corporate food, but the promotion is funny.

Me? I can call the number, laugh at the idea and resist the manipulation to order a pizza.

not that I would defend Domino's, whose food sucks as much as its politics, but they do say "fake" brooklyn acccent, which is what makes it funny. it would only be offensive if they said "to lose your brooklyn accent". lighten up, guys.
