I guess it's only fair that Streetsblog is reporting on the new development on Fourth Avenue since Brownstoner has enroached on their "territory" by writing about residential parking permits.

What house would be worth $3m in carroll gardens? Are you referring to the mansion/hospital looking thing in the photo? I don't think Carroll Gardens has buildings that big (mostly middle class row-house development brownstones). But IF there were such a building in CG, it would be worth whatever the going rate per sq foot times whatever the square feet of this place are, which on a photo assessment, I'd say is at least 12,000 sq feet, maybe even 16,000. IF anyone knows the address and has access to PropertyShark, it should confirm.
So say CG goes for $750 a sq foot. Times MINIMUM 12,000, you're looking at a 10 million dollar building in CG

This is one of the great surviving mansions of Brooklyn. so many were lost in the 1950's and 1960's when they were seen as "Victorian monstrosities" by the so-called architectural elite.
The survival of Brooklyn Heights is a miracle. All other brownstone neighborhoods in the Borough owe it a debt of gratitude.
Brooklyn Heights truly lead the way to a new future when cities and historic urban homes in general were written off by the planners and thinkers as ridiculous, soon-to-be-extinct Do-Do's.
It was not that long ago.

7:57 pm -- I agree. Thank god for rich old ladies with too much time and money and a zeal for preservationism. And I know I sound sarcastic, but I do mean it. Thank god for them. If they didn't already have the best of everything, I'd wish them the best.
I actually heard from the horses mouth (LPC) that the reason Landmarks Pres Comission even exists is because of the efforts of a very small group of annoying rich bitches who just decided that the old manses of NYC were their mission to preserve.
