StreetLevel: Mystery Frozen Yogurt Shop on 7th Ave.

7th-ave-froyo-02-2008.JPG
A storefront on 7th Avenue between Union and Berkeley has been under construction for quite some time now, and there's been talk that it will be a frozen yogurt business when it finally does open. Insofar as it's possible to get excited about a frozen yogurt shop, a few folks have hailed its coming, saying it's going to be a Pinkberry. But is it? From checking over DOB permits on the place, the business is slated to be called "Yogo Monster," which presumably has no affiliation with Pinkberry. But we're not sure, and contractors at the site have been mum about what they're building. Anyone have the skinny on the Slope's new Monster? GMAP DOB

What an awful name. One Eyed Purple Headed Yogurt Slinger?

Posted by: guest at February 7, 2008 4:01 PM

It's no worse a name than Pinkberry.

Posted by: guest at February 7, 2008 4:21 PM

I hear it is a Chabad

Posted by: guest at February 7, 2008 4:51 PM

How about a STARBUCKS! Yummy.

Posted by: guest at February 7, 2008 5:02 PM

I'm hoping it will be a bank, mortgage office, or cell phones store. Please!

There does not seem to be any info if one googles yogo monster.

I wonder if it might be a fake name?

Or maybe this will be the first outpost?

Either way, I love OKO so this place will have to be GOOOOD!!!

Nice to see more stuff filling up on 7th Avenue.

Actually, oko is horrible. I'd rather eat the yogurt my old '79 Salton Yogurt machine made in 1979!

i love oko.

better than pinkberry.

anyone i've taken there who likes frozen yogurt has enjoyed it very much.

pinkberry is my nickname for my clitoris.

Posted by: guest at February 7, 2008 6:23 PM

Between the deep thoughts on the Red Hook thread and this latest mention of clitoris, it's been a great f-ing day on Brownstoner. Keep em coming, heh heh.

At least there will be something going in the space. Just count up the number of empty storefronts on 7th Ave. And now 2nd Street Cafe is closed! What's going on? Is it all landlord greed?

Posted by: guest at February 8, 2008 12:20 PM

2nd Street Cafe probably closed because the food was vile.

i love pinkberry because you can have a chewy white topping called "ricecakes" that are kind of like candy--in between turkish delight and taffy

Posted by: guest at February 20, 2008 5:51 PM

It is called yogo monster the sign is up!

Posted by: guest at February 26, 2008 3:28 PM

it is landlord greed that is driving this 7th avenue down, i just found out the rent for the stores are absurd over 10k a month, who can afford that?

Posted by: guest at March 5, 2008 2:48 PM

yogo monster looks good so far, lets see how the yogurt tastes, wonder if it is a european company
