StreetLevel: Magnetic Field Saying So Long
Sad tidings from Brooklyn Heights Blog: Magnetic Field, the popular venue/bar on Atlantic between Henry and Hicks, is going out of business. The bar is slated to close at the end of next month. Magnetic Field has been around since late 2002; according to a manager we spoke to today, they're closing because "it's just time...we've had a good run, but it's done now."

I have a question...why are their so many nice places to eat in Park Slope but their are very few lounges...like Loki. Why is this?
Posted by: nycityguy9 at February 21, 2008 4:49 PM
Well this is a bummer.

great! another reason why brooklyn is starting to suck.
hello cleveland!

Yes, this is a huge bummer. The managers booked some excellent bands and really helped the local music scene. I've had many an great night there and will miss it in a big way. Apart from Williamsburg, there are not many good music venues in Brooklyn, let alone clubs with actual character! It's really a shame. I cringe to think what will move in there. Dominos? Duane Reade? Starfucks?

This area could use a Chase bank.

Dick Swizzle lives on!
Posted by: guest at February 22, 2008 12:35 AM
Sad to see them go, but they never seemed to have late night shows past 10 or 11 because of neighbors and noise. Not a cited reason for leaving, but maybe a contributing factor?
